to not wear a bra to the office today?

I'm working in the office this week, which means tidy gear. If I was working on site I could get away with jeans and jumpers.
However, I have shingles and the line of blisters is right across my back on my brastrap line, which although hasn't made me ill enough to be off sick, is very very sore and itchy.
AIBU to wear office clothes without a bra? - given that I have mahoossive GG boobs? which sadly at my age are obviously not perky might be fairly obvious to colleagues :@

YABU. Suck it up Sad

iwasyoungonce · 29/11/2011 13:17

Just do it! It's nobody else's concern - your comfort comes first!

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 29/11/2011 13:17

YABU...sorry....I wouldnt want to see a pair of GG boobs without a bra on in the office, it would put me off my work :)

Sympathy though, I can imagine it will very very uncomfortable!

nethunsreject · 29/11/2011 13:17

Are you allowed in with shingles? Just wondering.

Yanbu to not wear a bra. Poor you. It is horrid.

JAMW · 29/11/2011 13:18

I'm a double G and could never not wear a bra! When I was pregnant and couldn't be arsed because I was so big an sweaty, I had one of those secret support vest tops on, better than nothing!
I couldn't go without one personally!

ItWasABoojum · 29/11/2011 13:21

I would say, with GG boobs, a bra is a necessity - I'm only an E and I wouldn't dare go without. Given that, if you're unable to get dressed into office clothes without it causing you pain, aren't you too ill to be at work? Shingles is horrible and you'll get better faster with lots of rest - even if you don't feel all that bad, surely no boss will object to you having some time off?

ItWasABoojum · 29/11/2011 13:25

(unless you are the boss, in which case go in in your jamas and sack anyone who stares at your tits)

Proudnscary · 29/11/2011 13:25

Shcwip schweeeeeel!

OurPlanetNeptune · 29/11/2011 13:29

I feel extremely inadequate with my a-cup.

Poor you. Have you thought about wearing a tight fitting vest top underneath your outer layer of clothing? That would probably give you a bit of support ...

On another note, please please do make sure there is no-one in the office who, like me, is immunosuppressed. Shingles, itself, is not contagious but a person coming in contact with you can develop chickenpox which in the immunosuppressed can cause massive complications and may even be fatal.

nickelbabe · 29/11/2011 13:30

can you wear a vest?
i know it won't be as supportive, but it might help a bit...

lolaflores · 29/11/2011 13:32

You go girl. get them babies a swinging. but, the shingles thing? A nasty does that requires rest. then you can do what you like with your ahem, chest.

tunnelmaniac · 29/11/2011 13:44

Have got 2 lycra vests on and a crossover cardi thing and a pashmina but I feel very shapeless and even the vests hurt. I checked and shingles can only give someone chickenpox if they actually touch my blisters or I don't wash my hands properly - it's contagious, not infectious (so not with sneezing IYSWIM) and it is getting better, was worse over the weekend.
I don't feel ill although was sniffly last week, just uncomfortable, so can sit here and type. I think some people get it much worse than this, but then it's the same with chicken pox, some kids get 2 spots and some are covered.
Trying hard not to jiggle too much....
The funniest thing is my cleavage has totally disappeared, makes you glad well-fitting bras were invented!

I have Gs or at least I did have before I was pg and if I didn't wear a bra they'd be entering the office some time before I got there. But hey, do what you need to do, no one else's business really. :)

AntiqueAnteater · 29/11/2011 13:50

keep hoisting them up with folded arms while pursing your lips , a la les dawson

porcamiseria · 29/11/2011 13:52

sorry but wear a bra, if nothing else the GG boobs will go too crazy!!!!

dickiedavisthunderthighs · 29/11/2011 13:57

How about those stick on bras? They're sort of half cup things with a sticky side. With the best will in the world they're not going to hold up a pair of GG's (I feel your pain, I'm the same) but they'll help you feel less self conscious.

Alternatively, why don't you try a t-shirt with a bra over the top? It will help with the rubbing and with other clothes over the top nobody will ever know!!

midoriway · 29/11/2011 14:22

Have you got some decent bathers? It will keep you sort of strapped in, and you won't suffer the agony of shingles rubbing under bar strap. Throw on a loose top and a light cardie and you will look slightly mishappen, but presentable.

Dirtydishesmakemesad · 29/11/2011 14:59

If you are comfortable without i wouldnt wear one. I dont have such a big chest (only a c cup) so i have no idea how comfortable it would be without one but if you are comfy without and not comfy with then leave it off. Last i checked bra wasnt a legal requirement so people will just have to deal with what is afterall your natural state!

whatsapussycatdoll · 29/11/2011 15:02

after having my gallbladder out i couldn't wear a bra and also have GG, my sister bought me vest tops with support in them which served me well till scar healed. try them.

wonkylegs · 29/11/2011 15:05

Wear whatever you want but please check that nobody at work is in a position where shingles could be dangerous. I can't go near anybody who has it as it's very dangerous and although everybody at work has been told this a guy came in - meaning that I had to go and have tests etc to ensure I hadn't caught it. Immuno suppressed through drug treatment for arthritis but also any body who is pregnant. Please check as it can be very unpleasant for some, potentially life threatening for others Sad

schroeder · 29/11/2011 15:24

YANBU what your wearing sounds fine, you're not on the pull are ya?

You have my sympathy shingles spots are extremely painful.
