To think that Ebay sellers should not say they have dispatched their items before they have?!?

I've just had two emails to say my items have been dispatched on a Sunday night!!!

It really annoys me because its obvious they have not yet been dispatched and when they actually post the items I won't know.

Overeacting I know but it annoys me!!

Could they have booked a courier?

HSMM · 27/11/2011 20:54

I had an email today to say my item had been dispatched. It actually arrived yesterday. I am assuming it was dispatched on Friday and the seller has only just got round to marking it dispatched?

Maybe you will receive your good tomorrow, because they were sent yesterday.

If not, then they should not have clicked the box yet.

SoupDragon · 27/11/2011 20:56

I guess they wouldn't fit in a post box then?

NinkyNonker · 27/11/2011 20:57

I forget to click it normally, I forget it sends an email now.

However the other week I did it the other way, knew I wouldn't have access in the eve so clicked it as I was about to go out, shopping then PO. But after shopping I had a tantrumming DD so couldn't face the queue and went home, forgetting PO. Did send it next day though.

HecateGoddessOfTheNight · 27/11/2011 20:58

could they have posted them yesterday and just got round to letting you know?

Meglet · 27/11/2011 20:59

hmm, doesn't the paypal / royal mail website automatically mark an item as dispatched once it's been paid for? I'm sure mine does and I often print out the postage on a sunday evening.

Meglet · 27/11/2011 21:00

I mean 'once the postage has been paid for'.

craftyknickers · 27/11/2011 21:00

It's not letter boxed size so there is a slight chance they booked by courier but this seems to happen a lot.

It does seem very petty I know but whenever I sell anything I let the buyer know when I've literally posted it so they know when to expect it

Snap! I was just discussing this with dh...the listing ended at 6:45pm and by 8:30 it had apparently been dispatched Hmm. Unless the seller has a post office in their living room or something I don't think so!

TattyDevine · 27/11/2011 21:06

Oh stop moaning! When you pay and print the postage on the Royal Mail website it sends an email if you do it sort of "through" paypal (which puts the address in automatically).

Its all good! Your item has been "processed". When you print out the postage it has to be put in the actual post by the end of the next day or it "expires" even though you've paid for it so that should give you a reasonable idea!

Hmm Grin
hoops997 · 27/11/2011 21:09

My PO opens on a Sunday so I mark my items as dispatched as soon as I get home from the PO, even if it's on a Sunday Smile

redpanda13 · 27/11/2011 21:23

If the seller pays for the postage by paypal then ebay will automatically send an email saying it has been dispatched. Not the sellers fault at all.

sarahtigh · 27/11/2011 21:31

see red pandas explanation if I pay postage for your parcel now it will be marked as dispatched within a few minutes even though I do not take to PO until tomorrow

I actually mark as dispatched when I get back from PO as it helps keep local PO open if you buy postage there buying vis paypal does not and I love the ladies in my PO if I have a lot of parcels they work it all out and labrel them then i come back pay and get all my sertificates of posting stapled together

NewsClippings · 27/11/2011 22:57

YANBU. I think they should only say "despatched" when they've posted it.

squeakytoy · 27/11/2011 23:45

You may have bought off me then.

I have my parcels paid and ready to take to the post office on a sunday night, and paypal postage will automatically email the buyer to let them know the item is on its way.

Honestly, YABU, and it seems even when buyers try to be efficient they get slated. :(

squeakytoy · 27/11/2011 23:45

gahhhhh.... sellers, not buyers!
