Hi

My neighbour is 5 months pregnant.

She has just done her last day at work after being made redundant.

She does not wish to get another job until after the baby has been born.

How does she stand with the job centre and benefits when they send her for an interview.

They have already sent her for one which she did not get [luckily].

She will start maternity leave in about five weeks.

She is married and oh works but not on great money.

Not really.................she is five weeks away from maternity leave but they sent her for an interview which required heavy lifting.

I think it was a mistake or just a paper exercise.

Probably telling whoever interviews her that she is pregnant will ensure she doesn't get offered a job. As long as she keeps applying she will get her money and it is only another 5 weeks to go.

Its easy. She just has to say she is looking for work, and apply for the minimum number of jobs per week. If she gets called for interview, she will not get the job once they see she is very pregnant anyway. Its hard enough getting a job for people that want to... she just has to play the game for a few weeks.

At 5 months its going to be pretty obvious she's pregnant - unless you wear some pretty strategic scarves...

nikon1968 · 27/11/2011 19:56

She is quite obviously pregnant and thank you for the replies I feel the same that she just has to play the game.............get to christmas and she will be home and dry.

If she looks pregnant and makes it obvious most employers will do what she wants, illegal though it may be.

Her problem may be if she meets one who thinks she is just what the business needs and is happy to take her until she has to go on ML and then take her back . . . but the danger is small!

Yep you have to carry on looking for work and signing on until 30 weeks. I was so massive already when I had to claim JSA at 26 weeks, the advisers didn't even bother asking me what I'd applied for!
