AIBU to be worried stupid about our kitten?

We took on two rescue kittens (now 6 months old) about 7 weeks ago - they are absolutely lovely. They were both neutered/speyed about 10 days ago and are doing fine. We have been letting them go outside whilst we were at home for about the last 5 days. They have been going for a potter and then coming in within the hour. Tonight we popped out for a drink and let them go outside when we went as they were both crying at the door. We were gone about an hour and when we came home the little boy kitten came to greet us. But his lovely sister is nowhere to be seen. She's been gone about 4 hours now which is unheard of for her as she's a timid little girl.

We've called and called her but she hasnt come back. Am now worrying about foxes as she is quite small despite her age Sad and we live in woodland.

Can anyone cheer me up and tell me she will come home? Our last three cats all lived to be very elderly so its been many years since we have had to fret over a kitten. I'd forgotten how worrying it is when they go awol....

Oh my god!!!!!

She's home!

We were just popping out for a consolation curry, and I decided to call her where the noises were earlier today. A whole cacophony of meows responded. Very DH set off through the brambles and branches and found her sitting on a stone wall crying. So then we both cried.

Thanks all xxx

Aw i've got tears in my eyes about a strangers cat! So glad she's home - she needs a stern talking too and grounding! Her brother sounds so much more sensible!

squeakytoy · 27/11/2011 18:56

Awwww. thats brilliant news! Grin

Wolfiefan · 27/11/2011 18:57

Sooooo happy. Was thinking the worst here. Totally agree with the grounding and stern talking too!
Feel quite choked Blush

Sparklingbrook · 27/11/2011 18:58

That feeling when they come home when they have been gone for ages is like winning the lottery. There's a poster on here whose cat has been missing for over a week so fingers crossed for her too. Smile

cocoachannel · 27/11/2011 18:58

Oh, that's brilliant news. Hooray!

hellhasnofury · 27/11/2011 18:58

I hadn't posted on this thread but I've been following. I am so glad she's home. Bet she's got a story or two to tell now bless her.

careergirl · 27/11/2011 19:29

oh wonderful the longer it was going on the more worried I was getting. She has obviously been on a VERY BIG adventure!! No doubt she will tell her brother all about it!

scarlettsmummy2 · 27/11/2011 19:34

thank goodness!!

Almostfifty · 27/11/2011 19:35

My very timid girly cat does this frequently. Her extremely stupid brother never leaves us for more than a night.

Glad she's home and safe.

Tigerstripes · 27/11/2011 19:41

That's brilliant news! Got tears in my eyes too then! We have had a cat go missing for 3 weeks (!) so know exactly how you were feeling. I worry every time I let mine out but they would have much less fulfilled lives indoors I think (I know there are indoor cats but just thinking of ours and how much they like being outside).

elephantsteaparty · 27/11/2011 19:47

Am so happy for you. Just found this thread and had to zoom to the end to know how it ended. I hope she's been having lots of food and cuddles with her brother and you. I think your OH deserves a whisky!
