to not mind DS 3 running around in the nude

This morning DS's (aged 1 and 3) and I had a very lazy fun morning playing, didn't bother getting washed and dressed until around 11am. It was lovely.

Anyway, approaching bath time, DS 3, stripped off and then got distracted and went for another play for 5 mins.....not big deal, only the door bell went.

As I was running the bath I shouted not to open the door as it was bolted at the top, anyway he was so over excited that someone was at the door he went to open it. I ran downstairs as our neighbour was on the door step and the told DS to wait behind the door as the whole world didn't want to see him nacked!
I opened the door and thanked neighbour for returning some books she borrowed for her grandchildren. Anyway she looked shocked....."Is everything ok" looking me up and down......I explained we were having a lazy morning, but then DS jumped out Boo!! Her face was a picture, "are you sure you are ok?"
I did look crap as still in dressing gown and hair a mess but honestly, she looked shocked....perhaps it was more DS??

AIBU to have mornings like this?!

It's your home. Why should you be being U?

JaneFonda · 25/11/2011 21:05

YANBU - your home, your rules.

strikeuptheband · 25/11/2011 21:06

YANBU. This morning was a training day and so DS and DD were both in PJs until 5 past noon so the afternoon (just!). Nobody else's business!

Haribojoe · 25/11/2011 21:11

Sounds like most days in my house, even on school days when they all start off fully dressed you can guarantee that sometime before they go to bed their clothes will fall off!

I love the fact that they feel so free and uninhibited Smile

Chundle · 25/11/2011 21:42

On my street mums walk up the road to see their friends in their dressing gowns its fab! Shows they couldn't give a toss! They do get dressed up nice later of course. But in ur house yanbu to dress however u choose! Next time go to door wearing stockings and a suspended belt :)

hanaka88 · 25/11/2011 21:44

My DS (ASD) doesn't like to wear clothes. Once I arrived in spar with a half naked DS trying to wrestle his top back on him, luckily the shop workers all know and love him Grin

So YANBU leaving him naked for 5 mins while running the bath.

I'm gutted at the moment as DS is off school with an injury and I am injured too so we are given a carer who comes to shower DS at 6:30 am Sad so I have to be decent by then! I'm so jealous of your lazy morning.

Purpleroses · 25/11/2011 22:51

My DD answered the door once stark naked to a Tory party canvasser!

Did speak to her afterwards about not doing it again as she was about 7 at the time, and does do things to shock and see what happens Confused

He looked most embarrassed and ran away very quickly though :)

tryingtobemarypoppins2 · 25/11/2011 22:53

Thanks all, neighbour is a bit of a nosie lady to say the least! I was expecting the need for a hard hat as I really should make sure DS has his pants on esp when people come to the front door Blush
hanaka88 hope you are all on the mend soon.

I don't think there's anything wrong with your DS running round starkers in his own home either.

And so what if you were not up to much? It was her coming in unannounced to you home, she had to take you as you are.

You could see it as good that she was concerned enough to ask if you were alright though.

You not being alright and her not picking up on it would be much worse IMO.

But then if she's just having a nosey maybe I'm wrong Grin

Pandemoniaa · 25/11/2011 23:39

Dear me, she must lead a very sheltered life if this has caused her such conniptions!

I well remember ds1 and 2's Naked Phase. They once appeared in the kitchen wearing nothing but monster masks and sandals, struck a pose and declared, in unison "We IS the Vicious Brothers". Yes, we did have company at the time and we all collapsed with laughter. Years later we still received Christmas cards to the "Vicious Brothers". Which by then caused said brothers deep embarrassment.

hanaka88 · 25/11/2011 23:45

Oh and DS once stripped off when my friend was leaving and ran out of the door and down the street shouting 'widgy' that would have given her something to tut about Grin

CointreauVersial · 25/11/2011 23:46

Awww...I remember those days. We used to live at the end of a track - about ten cottages, quite a few kids the same age, and there was a lot of mass outdoor streaking in the summer when they were 2 or 3.

Now they're older they are all coy, holding towels around themselves even at the swimming pool changing rooms. They're not little innocent lovelies any more. Sad

kiwimumof2boys · 26/11/2011 08:26

Purpleroses - LMAO at your DD !
YANBU - My 2 do the same. Just remember all too soon they're going to grow up.

Proudnscary · 26/11/2011 08:37

I remember a flustered day when I answered the door with a naked, chicken poxed ds on my hip - who then proceeded to piss in a perfect arc while my neighbour jumped back in horror!

Binfullofmaggotsonthe45 · 26/11/2011 08:43

Ds6 often gets distracted mid morning on the weekend getting dressed. So if I turn away to do something I'll come back and he'll be naked, doing the little boy crouch (how do they do that without getting cramp?) starkers over a pile of lego. With his rear end pointing out towards the patio window overlooking the street, winking at all who pass, twig and berries hanging down.

Certainly a talking point for the elderly Swiss nosey buggars nordic walkers!
Grin

coccyx · 26/11/2011 08:46

Good for him. sounds like fun

chinateacup · 26/11/2011 09:03

Nobodies business. And anyway sounds nice and chilled...and mostly like our house when we can get away with it Smile
