to only wash bath towels once a month?

or less Blush

DH is in charge of washing his own towel and I am sure he never puts it in the wash more often than once every 2 or 3 months...

DS's goes in about once every 2 months (but it barely touches him as he likes to run around naked pretending to be a train driver straight after his bath, which dries him quite effectively).

I usually wash mine about every month but have realised that I haven't washed it since coming home from hospital with DD, who is now 5 weeks...in my defence, there is one HECK of a lot of other washing to do and it just won't ever fit in the machine....

We do wash out clothes (!) and sheets once a week. And I do the kitchen hand towel every week or two - it gets quite grubby and also fits in the machine with another wash easily.

But are we grim and disgusting when it comes to bath towels? How often do normal people wash bath towels?

OP posts:

So you've been using the same bath towel for five weeks after giving birth? Confused

Did you not notice there was quite a lot of ming stuck to it? Or are you the only woman ever who managed to give birth nice and cleanly without any trace of blood?

And 'DH is in charge of washing his own towel' Good grief, I don't know how you manage to live like that. It sounds like a student flat share rather than a family.

porcamiseria · 25/11/2011 15:59

same on me, but...YANBU

NaughtyBusterAndTheBumFactory · 25/11/2011 15:59

But no one is going to smell your bed.

laptopwieldingharpy · 25/11/2011 16:00

Op you are soooo BU, digusting!

porcamiseria · 25/11/2011 16:00

I think the target should be fortnightly, and this is a woman sans tunble dryer

valiumredhead · 25/11/2011 16:00

I doubt anyone actually died from using the same towel for a month though! There are skankier things I can think of to get twitchy about...

Get0rf · 25/11/2011 16:01

I suppose we could wear pants, but I don't see the need really, would rather just change the sheets Grin

Get0rf · 25/11/2011 16:01

naughty but I will smell the bed.

I want to get in a bed with clean sheets.

NaughtyBusterAndTheBumFactory · 25/11/2011 16:03

You can come and do mine if you want

FreakoidOrganisoid · 25/11/2011 16:05

Yuk!

Towels once a week, more often in summer when I can get them dry on the line.

Handtowel at least twice a week

Teatowel at least once a day

Sheets once a week but sometimes stretched to 10 days if the weather has been particularly crap and I already have washing everywhere. I'd love clean sheets everyday but am too lazy.

Teeb · 25/11/2011 16:05

Well, it's not 7 times a day every day, but if you are doing the bed sheets too then it adds up.

Bonsoir · 25/11/2011 16:07

Yes, OP, you are grim and disgusting when it comes to towels!!!

FellatioNelson · 25/11/2011 16:09

I change teatowels and dishcloths daily, and do a boil wash of them all once a week. I change towels weekly, or twice a week if I am having a period or we have been doing something particularly grimy. (like gardening - that's as 'grimy' as my life gets these days.)

Get0rf · 25/11/2011 16:11

I also change teatowels daily - I don't know what happens to the bloody things, they get filthy.

WhatAboutMeMeMe · 25/11/2011 16:11

i always say we wash more towels every week than a blimmin hairdressing salon! Always have a stack of them to put away every weekend

CaptainMartinCrieff · 25/11/2011 16:11

Yep sounds very grim to me... But I'm more concerned about the tea towel every 2 weeks! I don't believe they don't smell... I use a clean tea towel every day and I wash the towels twice a week.

pigsinmud · 25/11/2011 16:12

I am not too good at washing sheets - too many beds to change. Probably fortnightly or longer sometimes.

Towels - every couple of days. They don't really dry properly in our cold house so feel yuck after a couple of days.

Tea towels - go after a day, but I have a large supply of those.

Get0rf · 25/11/2011 16:12

And I don't want to verbally batter a woman with a newborn, but if uou are knackered OP, get DP to do the washing (all of it).

Floggingmolly · 25/11/2011 16:12

I wash towels after every bath /shower, so one use each, which makes for a hell of a lot of washing, but I thought this was normal? Couldn't bear to re-use a towel, even if it had been dried since the last use.

porcamiseria · 25/11/2011 16:13

but towels dry clean bodies, now I get monthly is ming, but daily????

I'm going to service wash them this weekend now

That is minging. and this comes from a proud and professional minger.

squeakytoy · 25/11/2011 16:16

No need to wash towels on 80.. that is just wasting electricity.

But ewwwwww at not washing them at least once a week. Its not even as if they are a faff to iron or put away.

munkeychops · 25/11/2011 16:17

Wow, a lot of people seem to do two or three loads of washing every single day?! Either they have families of ten kids or that is totally unnecessary and harmful to the environment.

munkeychops · 25/11/2011 16:19

... wash a towel after every use?!!
