To be really hacked off with Yodel/DHL?

I know I'm not being unreasonable - I just want to complain loudly and vociferously to warn other people of their abysmal service.

I bought a mattress recently and got a tracking number for delivery by Yodel. I logged onto their tracking info and discovered an entry saying 'failed to locate', dated Thurs 17 Nov. I called their customer service line and was told that actually, the delivery man had run out of time, and there was no need for me to provide directions. We agreed that they would deliver today so I could arrange time off work to be in to sign for it. I look on the tracker this morning and lo and behold, they attempted to deliver on Wed, couldn't find the house so have now sent it back to the sender in Bristol! I am in Midlothian. I was actually in on Wed after all, and no one phoned for directions.

I am spitting with rage. I took a day off work to be in for their poxy delivery man, and when I phoned to complain I was told that they can't physically make a delivery man call for directions! I was also told that there were no managers available for me to complain to. I have called the mattress company who said they have had numerous problems with Yodel (which begs the question of why they are still using them) and that they would complain and organise redelivery - using Yodel. I have fired off a furious email to Yodel and the mattress company, but I have no faith that they will be any more successful in delivering it the next time, AND I will have to take another day off work to wait for it.

So angry, so angry. Where else can I badmouth them?

I have had lots of parcels from Yodel recently and they have been fabulous.

UPS on the other hand are a bunch of w*nkers.

kneesofnorks · 09/12/2011 20:16

rearranged a delivery for today, after missing it on wednesday, not only did they not deliver, they didnt even bother loading it on their van so had no intention of delivering!

Have had a heated discussion with thier call centre, that was a waste of time. Apparently they can redeliver mon-fri next week, well since we both work mon-fri and arranged for today as DP had an annual leave day booked thats no use!

we dont have a car at the moment so getting to thier in the middle of nowhere depot isnt an option...

looks like we're not having a tree this year Xmas Sad not sure how to explain that to dc's

the amazon orders are meant to be getting delivered tomorrow and if they dont turn up ill cry, really stretched myself to buy my lovely daddy a kindle and i wont be happy if it doesnt appear!

Yodel delivered something to my house today but I wasn't in so they left it with my elderly neighbour (no we left it with your neighbour note)... Our neighbour bless him struggled across with an enormous heavy box to my front door... Thank you I say (baffled because I don't know what it is). Read the label on the front and it's not for us at all... The only thing remotely similar on the label is the house number and the town (big town). I've had to google address and I've bloody delivered it myself. The man who should have received it had been waiting in all day... Angry. He was very grateful. I'm thinking of billing yodel for my time!!!

soph252 · 09/12/2011 20:32

How bizarre! I had never heard of Yodel before today, but was wondering where my presents I had ordered from Amazon were, so I tracked them and found they had been delivered by Yodel on Monday. Apparently they were left in my porch - I don't have a frickin porch, so a bit baffled. No note was left either. So according to them my items have been delivered, but I haven't had them! I called them and explained and they are coming back to me Mon or Tues to let me know where the driver left them - useless idiots! I think I might contact Amazon to see what they have to say. Interesting to hear so many others have had problems with them!

legoqueen · 09/12/2011 20:47

Yodel failed to deliver 2 FCUK Express parcels to me on Tuesday. FCUK e mailed to apologise, refunded postage, said thousands of deliveries hadn't been made but that they would all be made on Wednesday. On Wednesday I was texted by Yodel saying will deliver on Friday, Monday or Tuesday...complained to FCUK & 1 parcel came on Thursday afternoon. Still 1 outstanding parcel out there though...grrr!

I already complained about Yodel on another thread but I'm so annoyed with them I want to spread the annoyance as far as I can.

Was told my parcel was delivered on November 23. Was told I signed for it at the door and the driver put it into my hands himself. Thought I was going mad and turned the house upside down (even though it was a fairly large, expensive item, hardly a tiny package). Finally, I found it yesterday, sodden, outside my front window. I live on a busy London road, God knows how it had sat out there for three weeks without being nicked.

Very pissed off that the driver didn't even bother to leave a card AND SIGNED MY NAME! Have written angry emails to Yodel and Amazon, fat lot of good that will do.

kneesofnorks · 10/12/2011 16:24

and as expected they didnt bother to deliver my other orders today - at least amazon will replace if they dont arrive by the 13th! although how i get the replacement i dont know........

WeShouldOpenABar · 10/12/2011 17:34

op was the mattress from matching bedrooms? because nobody is getting their orders check out their facebook page, im done with groupon they obviously dont vet the companies they deal with at all

Ephiny · 14/12/2011 13:40

I have a parcel that's 'missing' with Yodel/HDNL too. Ordered last Thursday, paid for next day delivery, waited in all day Friday, nothing turned up. I checked the online tracker, and it said it had been delivered! We have a CCTV camera outside the front door, so absolutely sure no one has been to the door.

Finally managed to get through to the call centre (not easy as their lines seem to be constantly engaged, and when you do get through and past the automated menus you get put on hold for 20 mins), it appears someone (presumably the driver) has forged my signature and they have no clue where the parcel is now.

Wednesday now and I still haven't heard from them, no apology, no communication, it's just awful Angry.

IndridCold · 14/12/2011 14:11

I'm spitting mad with Yodel, they are totally useless. We were expecting a parcel yesterday on Amazon Prime delivery. This morning they said it would be delivered today, so I've had to postpone my shopping and cancel a class this afternoon.

As it still hadn't come by 1pm I tried to ring, but the waiting time was 10 mins (and that's just at the Yeovil depot so god knows what it's like nationwide), so I rang Amazon. The girl managed to get an answer quite quickly, but all she could say was that it would be here before 7pm!

Their excuse was that because it's Christmas there are a lot more parcels than usual - so like every Christmas within living memory then. Xmas Angry Xmas Confused

SoupDragon · 14/12/2011 14:13

"but all she could say was that it would be here before 7pm!"

But that is the same for pretty much all delivery companies all year round.

IndridCold · 14/12/2011 14:35

I know, but that's what gets up my nose. With the technology they have now(gps and sat nav etc) they should be able to give a more accurate delivery time than that.

I've been stuck in with DS all day waiting for this blardy lego set that he has saved up for, and he's driving me completely bananas Grin.

Johntorodegregwallacesandwich · 14/12/2011 15:55

I think Hermes are quite bad... though I've had lots of rubbish experiences with Yodel.

I rate Citylink quite well but I think they're one of the more expensive couriers, I'm always relieved if something I've ordered is coming through them. TNT and APS are quite reliable too.

SoupDragon · 14/12/2011 16:45

Oh, I've whinged about delivery slots on many occasions. One company I'm not sure which - sends a text message saying what smaller time slot the delivery will be in. Given, as you say, GPS technology and the fact that they must have a route planned how can they not have a rough idea when they will be with you?

I have just complained to Amazon that I have not received part of my order. The order tracking says it was out for delivery by Yodel on the 9th December. Guess I can kiss that goodbye then. That means I will have to actually go to some shops to get some extra bits for the kids. I'm currently suffering with an ear infection and can't safely drive. I'm hoping by next week I will be better but I have heaps of other stuff to do before Christmas Day and MIL's impending arrival on the 27th December. Aaargh! Xmas Angry

MrsTwinks · 15/12/2011 15:59

from the other side my boss uses yodel. They ALWAYS turn up with minutes to spare to pick up the packages, they've lost a good few of our parcels already and we've been using them a week and a half!! Boss now understands the face I did when he mentioned using them!!

IndridCold · 15/12/2011 16:34

Our parcel eventually arrived at 6pm, an hour before the cut off time, so I could have done my shopping AND gone to my meeting, and still have been back in time. It was our usual driver (who is lovely and delivers lots of wine to us many times during the year with no problems) he had obviously just been given about 10 times his usual workload.

I did send a complaint to Amazon (I even included a link to this thread) Wink so we will see how much they fear the wrath of MN!

DoesntChristmasDragOn · 15/12/2011 22:23

At 17:15 today I had an email from Tesco Direct saying my parcel would be arriving between 7am and 7pm on Tues 20th Dec. By 18:15pm today I had the parcel :o

I can't find out who the courier was though.

JinglePosyPerkin · 15/12/2011 23:47

My Amazon parcel has been down as "Out For Delivery" on Yodel's tracking system since 7.28am on 3rd December. What does that mean do we think? Is it in someone's car boot waiting for them to find the time to drop it off?

Amazon have refunded me my money today with no quibbles but, I'd rather have had the bloomin' goods!!

I would never order from anyone again if I knew Yodel would be the courier.

Miette · 16/12/2011 14:36

ELC and Pet supermarket seem to use Yodel. I have found this out as i am awaiting deliveries from them and having no luck. Angry

Ephiny · 16/12/2011 14:42

I had to get a refund from the retailer as well as they've chased up with Yodel/HDNL who apparently have no idea what's happened to my parcel. Annoyingly I can't get a replacement as the item I ordered is now out of stock Angry.

It looks to me like either the driver stole/lost/dumped the parcel and signed for it his/herself, or else they delivered it to the wrong address and the person there signed for and kept it. Not good either way.

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 16/12/2011 14:58

I'm possitively escatstic if I get deliveries before 9pm........

Is there anywhere that doesn't use Yodel these days - Monday night I had two parcels delivered (at 9.10pm!!) (neither expected for a few days) from different companies both delivered by Yodel.............thankfully I was in. My best friend (who I'd been out with that evening and ad only just dropped me off) got home to find Yodel had dumped her 'to be signed for' stuff in her (unlocked) porch!

york80 · 16/12/2011 15:04

Yoel has a habit of leaving parcels in a safe place. On a doorstep. On what planet is that safe.
They called it a porch but it is open fgs.
