To be really hacked off with Yodel/DHL?

I know I'm not being unreasonable - I just want to complain loudly and vociferously to warn other people of their abysmal service.

I bought a mattress recently and got a tracking number for delivery by Yodel. I logged onto their tracking info and discovered an entry saying 'failed to locate', dated Thurs 17 Nov. I called their customer service line and was told that actually, the delivery man had run out of time, and there was no need for me to provide directions. We agreed that they would deliver today so I could arrange time off work to be in to sign for it. I look on the tracker this morning and lo and behold, they attempted to deliver on Wed, couldn't find the house so have now sent it back to the sender in Bristol! I am in Midlothian. I was actually in on Wed after all, and no one phoned for directions.

I am spitting with rage. I took a day off work to be in for their poxy delivery man, and when I phoned to complain I was told that they can't physically make a delivery man call for directions! I was also told that there were no managers available for me to complain to. I have called the mattress company who said they have had numerous problems with Yodel (which begs the question of why they are still using them) and that they would complain and organise redelivery - using Yodel. I have fired off a furious email to Yodel and the mattress company, but I have no faith that they will be any more successful in delivering it the next time, AND I will have to take another day off work to wait for it.

So angry, so angry. Where else can I badmouth them?

knittedbreast that sounds great, I'm in need of a spare bed solution - we have had airbeds but they don't mix well with cats, so a roll-up mattress would be great. Have tried googling but can't find them - can you link to what you mean?

biddysmama · 26/11/2011 09:18

i had problems with them last week, a card came through my door saying they had left it in the shed, they had actually put it over the gate, nobody knocked, just put the card through, rung up to complain because i said when ordering not to leave it anywhere anyway and to say they hadnt bothered knocking..... apparently he had knocked and i wasnt in.. i told them that was very interesting since i am unable to leave the house!

Ismeyes · 26/11/2011 09:46

Yodel are shit. They left a large parcel of books full view on my doorstep yesterday, which was there all day because I was at work. Amazon were completely uninterested when I contacted them to complain (this is the 3rd time it has happened). Yodel were even more disinterested. Next time I will just deny ever ever getting any parcel they fling on the doorstep.

If you are in London you might be interested to know that Sam Leith in the E.Standard has also been complaining about Yodel and is asking people to write to him with any of their own bad experiences...

Snowinsummer · 06/12/2011 00:03

Yodel also failed to locate my house despite me giving very precise directions (and its not even difficult to find!) I waited in two days in a row then gave up & asked Amazon to refund me. I then reordered what I wanted and unfortunately I had to get one of the things from Amazon again & guess who's supposed to be delivering it this time? Yup, it's YODEL. Will wait, with baited breath, to see if it arrives this time or not!

MrsHeffley · 06/12/2011 14:28

So another day off work and still no Yodel, anybody want to take bets as to wether I'll get my son's Xmas present today as promised????

TurkeyBurgerThing · 06/12/2011 15:41

YADNBU. My experiences of them they are UTERLY useless. Next day delivery is always "when we can be arsed" delivery. The delivery driver is an absolute sweetheart though so my rage and urges to throttle evaporate because when he turns up he's so nice. Probably all part of their game plan!!

TandB · 06/12/2011 16:10

I just had a very apologetic Tescos customer service chap cancel my delivery charges after it transpired that yodel had been driving my parcel around south London for the last few days without actually making any attempt to deliver it.

I think he was going to ring them and shout as I was apparently the third customer of the day to ring about missing baby stuff when pretty close to due date!

TandB · 06/12/2011 16:12

Yodel also once left a parcel under a pile of leaves in the middle of our lawn and we didn't find it till the spring.

CarlaBruni · 06/12/2011 16:16

Oh god, I have just called my delivery person after they didn't attempt to deliver again after trying on Friday. She has now simply resigned from them, has sacks and sacks of stuff on her house that YODEL have yet to collect and I am going to HER house to collect MY OWN parcel

MrsHeffley · 06/12/2011 16:24

John Lewis didn't really want to know and apparently have no idea how crap they are Hmmyeah right pull the other one.

So dilemma, still no parcel. It's my sons main and pretty much the maj of his Christmas presnts. John Lewis now no longer have it in stock on line but have a few in stores. It's my twins Xmas show tonight, does one of us stay in just incase they show up or what? I just can't stay in yet again tomorrow.

Starting to really panic. Never shopping from John Lewis again.

ahhyesiseeyouvepooedonyourfoot · 06/12/2011 16:27

kungfupanda that is hilarious! A hibernating parcel! In regards to OP Yodel=DHL, DHL= Drop it, Hide it, Loose it. End of.

redlac · 06/12/2011 16:36

I have Christmas presents ordered on Amazon which were ou on a yodel van in Bellshill over a week ago. Online tracking doesn't even say they have attempted a delivery and when I spoke to Amazon try just said giev it a couple more days, fuckers

FFSEnid · 06/12/2011 16:46

Yodel have lost 3 of my Amazon orders in the past 2 weeks. They say they have delivered them and put them behind the wheelybin. They'd have a job as the bin is kept in a locked garage.

bemybebe · 06/12/2011 16:56

How is DHL connected to Yodel?? I used this DHL in the past and it is fantastic.

TandB · 06/12/2011 16:58

CarlaBruni - sorry, have I got this right? Someone has quite working for Yodel and just taken all the parcels home with her?

That is one of the most bizarre delivery problems I have heard of!

bemybebe · 06/12/2011 17:02

CB bloody hell Shock

CarlaBruni · 06/12/2011 17:02

Yep. They just use local couriers so, anyone, basically

StepAwayFromTheMincePies · 06/12/2011 17:26

elizabethPonsonby and others who have had stuff just left outside with no signature, I woud be very very tempted to contact the supplier and say it had not arrived. then you have two! Xmas Smile think if they were duplicating orders regularly they would soon figure out it was cheaper to use a decent service and request a signature.

MurderOfProse · 06/12/2011 18:55

Nearly pulled a muscle trying to fish a heavy Amazon delivery out of our huge wheely bin this afternoon, courtesy of Yodel. Still, at least they left a card telling me they'd put it there - they don't always.

One of many previous forms - failing to deliver a parcel twice, both times claiming they couldn't find the house (80s-built standard housing estate, never had a problem before) but when I went down to the depot 30 minutes drive away in disgust, they said "Oh, that was X, he's always doing that when he runs out of time".

I did actually have a successful Yodel delivery the other day. I was shocked.

redlac · 07/12/2011 08:37

Just had money refunded by Amazon after complaining that my deliver is over a week late - last tracked going onto a Yodel van in Bellshill on the 28th and is now "lost".

MrsHeffley · 07/12/2011 09:51

If mine is lost I'm stuffed.Ds's present is now out of stock and we've bought the ink in readiness so will be out of pocket on top. That was pretty much all he was having.Sad

Mondayschild78 · 07/12/2011 10:46

I had to return a fault dvd to amazon and the guy from YODEL who picked it up was incredibly rude to me. I'm sorry if I have a 5 week old baby to deal with and it takes an extra minute for me to answer the door and I don't have the dvd package ready and it takes me ooh a whole 30 seconds more to go and get it Hmm

Was so upset then angry at how he spoke to me complaining that I was taking so long and all his customers had p*ed him off that day (!!) I couldn't find anywhere online to complain to about him and also think I should write to amazon but they don't make it easy to receive complaints either so haven't quite managed it yet.

soandsosmummy · 07/12/2011 10:47

Oh no I've just ordered some books from the Book People who have always been so reliable in the past. I got the dispatch confirmation this morning and its gone with Yodel.
