... a mere FORTY days after having DS. Last week I posted a little rant as I was sure I was having period pains. And lo and behold, I was bloody right!

The same happened with my first DC, but that made a little bit of sense as he had some FF's in his first few days and I expressed loads and loads. But this time DS has only been breastfed, bar one barely half feed of expressed milk after a half hearted attemt to express when he was about a week and my boobs were shreaded. And he's a total boob monster!

I'm sooooooooooo jelous of my friends who had 6 months to 18 months off.

I HATE periods! I get moody, they hurt, and I get symptoms sometimes for half the month so it's not as though it's a few days and that's it. AND I don't want anymore children so they're now completely pointless.

Arggghhh!

Sorry, rant over!

I still haven't had a period and it has been almost 10 months. I'm not bragging though I was planning to try for dc 2 in January but no chance of that at the moment.

Don't think I would have appreciated it one month after birth though so YANBU.

StealthPenguin · 25/11/2011 09:23

3 weeks after DS was born I got the contraceptive implant. I'm having far less periods than I was, they are a lot lighter and easier to deal with, and I don't suffer as badly from the moodswings. Although in the beginning there was an incident in ASDA that I'm still ashamed of...

feelingratheroverwhelmed · 25/11/2011 10:47

What incident in Asda, I'm curious! when your exprience seems to be the normal one. Are you still bf? Can you cut down to increase your chance of ovulating?

stealth I'm really wary of getting any kind of contraception that is hormonal due to past experiences so I'm just going to have to deal with the periods. Clearly this is just the way I'm built, but I'm mightily fucked off though!

valiumredhead · 25/11/2011 11:14

I didn't have periods for nearly a 10 months AND I FF - don't think I could've coped with periods tbh! Poor you.

picnicbasketcase · 25/11/2011 11:19

I FF and mine didn't return for about four months. Poor you, it does seem rather unfair.

McPie · 25/11/2011 11:19

I was the same both times, my cycle went right back to the way it had been before, every 26 days. Luckily at that point I did not have the flooding and pains I went on to have a couple of years after twins arrived or I could not have coped.

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 25/11/2011 11:22

I EBF DS (you know the feeds every 90mins and everything).
PP bleeding stopped at four weeks, period returned two weeks later Angry
Worst part was, I wanted DC2 as close as possible, but it still took 9 months to conceive.
Wouldnt have minded so much if quick period return = quick second pregnancy Grin

feelingratheroverwhelmed · 25/11/2011 13:47

mcPie and beyond - snap. Both times my pp bleeding stopped after 4 weeks and period returned 5-6 weeks pp, and the first time I went straight back to my 26 day cycle.

I'm glad you're all sympathetic to my plight! it's soooooooooo annoying Angry

Psammead · 25/11/2011 13:51

Mine came back after 2 months. DD was 100% bf.

Bastard periods.

StealthPenguin · 25/11/2011 17:43

I'm not breastfeeding, bottles :)

And the incident in ASDA makes me cringe!

My anger was getting out of control, it was 4 weeks after DS was born, about a week and a few days after the implant had gone in and we went into ASDA to pick up a new pair of jeans for me. Went into the fitting room, came out and DP said (as a joke) that DS needed changing and since it was stinky he was no longer "our" son, but mine.

I absolutely fucking lost it. We're talking going purple-faced, screaming at the top of my lungs, excessive use of swearing... I think every other word or so was either "fuck" or "fucking", "bastard of wanking fuck" was also thrown, along with a few sprinkles of "cunt" and "shitty misogynist". I even started taking things out of the trolley and throwing them at him. He was completely ashen-faced, and when he tried to get me to calm down it just pissed me off even more. I ended up storming out.

It was all the implant. I rang my mother in absolute sobs and explained that I was going completely insane and wanted to commit myself. She explained that she had the same reaction when on the implant, and that it really would settle down in a week or two.

Every time I think about it now, I cringe. It's the most mortifying thing I have ever done and ever will do. I think my poor DP was scared to speak for about 3 days afterwards. I have never felt more ashamed of myself than I did that day - it wasn't like me AT ALL. I rarely swear and I even more rarely ever lose my temper! I tend to write things down rather than actually saying things. Completely embarassed.

StealthPenguin · 25/11/2011 17:43

Sorry for hijacking the thread by the way, but you did ask! And I've still not finished apologizing for the incident...

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 25/11/2011 18:40

Stealth that's hilarious! Poor you and poor DP. And all those poor onlookers that must have been around too!! Grin
Even my DH laughed when I read it, and I can be a hormonal bitch to him sometimes.

CardyMow · 25/11/2011 18:51

DD - First period after 4 weeks (ebf till 6mo)
DS1 - First period after 6 weeks (ebf to 4mo)
DS2 - First period after 5 weeks (ebf to 1mo, mix fed to 3mo)
DS3 - STILL no period, still bf, 9mo.

I've even started wondering if Tampax have a use-by date, because the ones in my bathroom have more than likely exceeded it!

thefurryone · 25/11/2011 19:08

YANBU I thought I was hard done by with a 3 month return, which I've been blaming on the 1 FF a day that DS gets.

Stealth that is pretty hardcore PMT, do you still shop there?

StealthPenguin · 25/11/2011 19:18

Yes - I can still get away with shopping there! I've lost some weight in my face for some reason, so it makes me look completely different. I've also updated my hairstyle since then, and my glasses as well.

It may be funny now, but trust me - at the time I was mortified! It was like a red mist descended on me and I just couldn't stop myself!

StealthPenguin · 25/11/2011 19:19

Oh, and just so everyone knows how large the argument actually was...

My DP overheard people from the other side of the ATTACHED SHOPPING CENTRE that had complained about my foul language...

rhondajean · 25/11/2011 19:19

Two totally bf babies, one CS, and periods back after 4 weeks both times.

Pffft.

Poor you though. The cramps were much much better after the first DC if thats any possible consolation.

feelingratheroverwhelmed · 25/11/2011 20:39

stealth that is both terrible and hilarious, you poor poor thing (and poor DH)!!!. I DEFINITELY don't want any hormonal contraception, as I am tending towards the unhinged anyway when I have PMT.

Being female is really shitty at times!

OP posts:
rogersmellyonthetelly · 25/11/2011 20:42

I had about 1week between pp bleeding ending and my first pp period. I ebf for 6 months as per the rules and they arrived regular as clockwork. Life just isn't fair

winterreise · 25/11/2011 21:44

6 weeks after birth for me too and 20 more years of it to come. You can tell women were designed by a male god.

MenopausalHaze · 25/11/2011 21:51

I always think that if you're going to have an 'incident' best make it a spectacular! You did that alright Stealth - and although I'm sure it was horrid for you and DP it's worth some kudos cookies in my book! Respect!
