My nearly 4 year old is getting a scooter Smile

CoffeeGoneColdAgain · 24/11/2011 11:15

Blimey thats brill, £7! I bought the bendaroos from there, £16 in most shops and i got them for £9 plus a refill pack for £3,
ELc have 3 for 2 on all toys, not sure how long thats on for. They have a lovely looking wooden farm reduced from £45 to £22.50.

Kaekae · 24/11/2011 11:15

A bed and bed linen as presents? Think I will pass on that idea. Grin

I am really stuck on what to get my four year old son, he really enjoys going on my laptop right now, so perhaps something like a DS for the weekends. Was hoping to wait until next year but he has most things already. Love the Kids of Carcassonne Board Game, will be getting this for him!

vviola - I don't know, but we're going to find out! She's home-ed at the moment and one of the groups we go to have been through a range of crafty things. Through those I discovered that she's actually a lot more able and dextrous at a lot of things than I'd imagine, and she completely adores doing running stitch through coarse AIDA fabric; I draw her lines to follow, thread a nice blunt tapestry needle, knot it on and off she goes - and if the thread is pink or metallic then so much the better Wink. She really enjoyed using a peg loom (or getting me to use a peg loom while she "helped"...) She's also been winding pom-pom's for a couple of years.

So I'm not sure, but I'm hopeful :o Just hoping that the doll I got is nice and smooth inside, as that's something I remember as being horribly annoying when I was young. Might have to sneakily open the packet and set DH to work with some sandpaper if needed!

MoChan · 24/11/2011 11:16

My 4yo DD is getting lots of books because she loves reading, and probably some playmobil of some kind (maybe a carry along house), a doll's double pushchair, probably a lilydoll to be friends with her other lilydoll. She is also hankering after assorted bits of Toy Story Merchandise (jessie doll to go with her Woody doll, etc) and she wants Moshi monster stuff (my DSD who is 9 is VERY into them and it's rubbing off).

MIFLAW · 24/11/2011 11:29

New scooter; shopping trolley, checkout and till; probably some DVDs and books.

Shiner · 24/11/2011 11:29

vvviola: I got my daughter a French knitting dolly for her fourth birthday, but it was a bit too early. She got frustrated at not being able to control the wool (although we only had a pointed stick to move the wool, and a fine crochet hook would probably have helped make it easier). She's now five years old, and I think if I get a crochet hook and have another go at teaching her she might be able to do it.

My daughter got a CD player for her 4th birthday, and although she didn't use it much to start with, it gradually got more an more use: ELC have some lovely nursery rhyme CDs and she likes playing stories from CD.

A real hit at four years old was a weaving loom. This she could understand and do, and loved it. The wool she got with it has been used for myriad other things, so that was a real winner.

Another success was dressing up things. My daughter got a princess dress and tiara, butterfly wings (H&M do some nice ones) and wands, and some plastic flashing jewellery, which were all loved and shared with friends. She will get a mermaid outfit from M&S for Christmas.

Last one: Playmobil, especially anything to do with horses and unicorns.

miaowmix · 24/11/2011 11:32

Last year DD (then 4) loved Sylvanian families Morris Minor car and caravan, and a leapster explorer with games like Dora, Tangled, Toy Story etc. And a puppet theatre.
Djeco do lovely craft stuff too.

PomBearAtTheGatesOfDoom · 24/11/2011 11:37

HipHop Avon often have some nice jewellery for small girls in the Christmas brochures. I got DD a little ballerina one year, and a pair of ballet shoes the next. They're quite good for other stocking fillers too, especially if you can find someone nearby who does it, then there's no postage to pay either.

CocktailQueen · 24/11/2011 11:44

Playmobil! Books, jigsaws, Orchard Toys games, ELC build it set, phonics alphabet desk.

familyfun · 24/11/2011 12:56

pink lego, picture atlas, 3d snakes and ladders, barbie waterpark.

TroublesomeEx · 24/11/2011 12:57

Well mine's 5 but it's near enough!

Bike.
Craft stuff.
Lego.
Hair accessories.
Baking set.
Pyjamas.
Dressing up outfit.

She hasn't asked for any toys and doesn't really seem to play with them all that much.

If any of the above can be pink and/or glittery, then all the better Hmm

Personally, I wouldn't touch a DS for a child of 4. My son had one at 9 but doesn't really bother with it anymore.

PosiesOfPoinsettia · 24/11/2011 13:00

My dd has a ds and loves it, she uses it for long haul, sending messages to her brothers and boring waiting time. My dd has asked FC for a Jessie Outfit and we'll get accessories for her micro scooter and maybe a dolls house.

bubbub · 24/11/2011 13:08

dd1 4 is getting a giant scooby doo, some ben and holly toys, gogo my walkin pup, a play hoover colour your own pony crayola thing and lots of little stocking bits too

ThePathanKhansWitch · 24/11/2011 14:09

Oh i love the weaving loom idea .

Was just dd 4th b'day so we also are drowning in stuff.

But i got her a brilliant Blackboard from Letterbox, with magnetic letters, chalk etc.

Haven't got a clue for xmas, we do Eid as well, it's all getting a bit ridiculous tbh. We need to cut the festivities in this houseGrin.

If i'm honest i've put loads of stuff unopened upstairs, i'm quite tempted to just wrap it up again Grin.

wigglesrock · 24/11/2011 14:18

LaLaLoopsie big doll and mini ones and mini tree house, some of the wooden food sets from ELC, stationery/colouring set.

She was 4 at Halloween and she got Minnies kitchen, which although I've since read poor reviews for, she really loves it.

ChooChooWowWow · 24/11/2011 14:22

Mine is getting:

A Leap Pad Explorer
The Asda dolls house and furniture
Two of TK maxx gorgeous dressing up outfits
A set of fairy dolls

A stocking with disney perfume, hair slides, socks, books etc.

SparkleSoiree · 24/11/2011 14:24

DD4 has asked for coloured bricks which we have got her. We also got her a little buggy, a train set (on her list!) some number and word development games and Buckaroo. We spent just under £80 in total I think..

flyingspaghettimonster · 24/11/2011 15:33

Playmobil playmobil playmobil... can't go wrong with it :-) Virtually unbreakable, my kids have the sets we played with 20 years ago and it looks just like new. There's a set for whatever any kid is interested in... mine are getting zoo (2 year old so will remove the fecky little parts and just give animals and scenery) Romans (4 year old) and Egyptians (7 year old)... best bit is that all three can be good educational toys, and can be shared.

I should be a playmobil advertiser because I LOVE everything playmobil...

MyMamaToldMe · 24/11/2011 15:57

My 3.7 DD is getting a scooter, a Playmobile doll house, books, Crayola stuff, Play doh stuff (which is what she actually said she would like from FC!) and a stocking with bit and pieces in it.

AllYourFleshAarghBelongToMe · 24/11/2011 16:01

My 4yo dd is getting some vintage my little ponies, a large stuffed swan and a wooden pirate ship from us. My parents are getting her some Playmobil, and I think Mil went with wooden play food.

HauntyMython · 24/11/2011 16:06

I have DD 4 and DS 2, their main present is a dressing up box which I've been working on since summer (shopping around for cheap bits on sale rather than expensive character outfits, exception being a snow white dress as DD is desperate for one)

DD is also getting some board games (orchard toys/ELC) but come to think of it most of their stuff is joint presents.

sybilvimes · 24/11/2011 16:12

one of those micro scooters and some playmobil knight stuff.

All of which is hideously expensive but I expect the unbridled joy when he rips them open on christmas day will soften the blow a bit.
