To want a master list of everyone who is set to strike on 30th?

Because it's way more than just teachers, and I want to get some idea of just how disrupted things could get.

So:

Teachers
UK Border staff

Who else to add?

Apparently some NHS staff, I am a nurse but have not been ballotted and wouldn't strike anyway. Am guessing other groups might such as admin staff.

Nurses
Nursing Assistants.

I am a Nurse, not striking as in the RCN but lots of our ward staff are striking.

EdithWeston · 24/11/2011 06:57

DownbytheRiverside: some of that list is Union based, and I don't know what workers they cover. Rather than put inaccuracies, I've picked out those I do know to add to the list (and hope someone more knowledgeable will add the others.

So list currently is:

Teachers
Head teachers
UK Border Agency staff (immigration officers)
Nurses
Nursing assistants
Chiropodists and Podiatrists
Society of Radiographers
Educational Psychologists
Physiotherapists
(unspecified) senior Civil Servants

Wow Doyou - ward staff striking - I think that's unheard of before isn't it?

turkeyboots · 24/11/2011 06:57

Most civil service staff, so passport offices and government dept, job centres and tax offices.

Idasonions · 24/11/2011 07:00

social workers

TaffyandTeenyTaffy · 24/11/2011 07:00

Council workers

BoattoBolivia · 24/11/2011 07:08

Unison and gmb also cover lots of school support staff such as midday meals supervisors, kitchen staff, tas, office staff and caretakers.

EdithWeston · 24/11/2011 07:08

sleeplessintheUK: not unheard of. I can remember several such strikes in the 1970s.

TaTT: any idea which council staff?

List

Nurses
Nursing assistants
Chiropodists and Podiatrists
Society of Radiographers

University lecturers and support staff

Rollersara · 24/11/2011 07:13

Government funded scientists...

golemmings · 24/11/2011 07:15

If unison us out then its likely to be union members across all county/district functions.

Besom · 24/11/2011 07:15

Most council staff I think. Admin staff too.

shesparkles · 24/11/2011 07:23

police support staff....who's going to answer YOUR 999 call?

storminabuttercup · 24/11/2011 07:24

My sons nursery is closed, it's council run.

storminabuttercup · 24/11/2011 07:37

Oh and probation staff are (I think)

boschy · 24/11/2011 07:38

Court officials I believe

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 24/11/2011 08:02

SleeplessinUK I can't remember a time when nurses have gone out on Strike before, not quite sure what the ward is going to do TBH. From what I read at work they can cover with bank staff but not agency.

emskaboo · 24/11/2011 08:02

In my LA we're all out, but management are asking for agreed exemptions for frontline social workers to run duty lines, homelessness services and other essential services. Exemptions are still under discussion so unclear whether everyone will be out, if no exemptions are granted senior managers (who in my experience all seem to blackleg) will be in covering essential services with staff who aren't union members/are choosing to scab.

camdancer · 24/11/2011 08:13

Binmen in our area apparently.

wideawakenurse · 24/11/2011 08:15

Hospital support services so: Porters, admin staff, reception staff, cleaners, kitchen staff, sterile services staff, laundry room staff, security, mortuary staff, estates services etc.

Only if they are in one of the balloted unions and have agreed to strike though.

TroublesomeEx · 24/11/2011 08:15

camdancer our binmen are 'always' striking. Sometimes it feels like they just jump on the back of other people's strikes for a laugh!

ncjust4this · 24/11/2011 08:22

All la staff inc children's services, adult services, planning, building control, environmental health, legal services, highways, cleansing........

I had no idea how many services would be down to be honest

Northernlurker · 24/11/2011 08:35

In the hospital I work in we suspect biggest impact will be on portering, domestic staff and one or two of the specfic professions - physio and radiology. So the senior managers will be porters for the day Grin I'm not a union member so will go in to work as usual. I'm glad about that tbh. I don't think I could abandon my patients in this context.
