"get a cleaner"
"get an au pair"
"get an ironing lady"
"a nanny is only 24K per annum"

Really need to get a grip with reality and realise those people who work might actually need to work and dont have excess cash to pay for domestic staff? So it's often a stealth boast comment designed to make those who are stressed out actually a whole lot more inadequate than they are already feeling.

I realise this a foreign concept to some. The "having to work" thing. But if you are cash flush and able to employ a Lituanian doormat maid you would have already covered that base and installed her in the garage. Quite possibly you wouldnt be posting on here to vent your speen and admit you are having difficulty coping.

Good plan!

I'm a single mum and have a cleaner every other week for two hours which costs me £20. I go without other things so I can keep her. On the day when she has been I walk into the house with my three dcs after a day's work and could weep with joy and relief .

I strongly suspect that most of the women who come on here talking about domestic staff live in council housing and are paying Bright House for their laptops Grin

But its good to have a dream, so dont let me knock you!

Having a cleaner means me and my husband never argue about the cleaning. It's not bank-breaking or a massive luxury - she does 2 hours a week for £25 (which I know is over the odds but she is great and I like her, and cleaners are paid shit.) I hate cleaning - well, tidying. Me and my husband are both clutterers and the kids create a sea of mess that I can just about keep at bay between her visits, but it doesn't come naturally to me. She makes everything look great! (FYI the place is always CLEAN, just messy.) YABU if you think everyone with a cleaner is either rich, filthy or a stealth boaster!

Nicola Horlick is one of my heros, for once quipping something to the effect that it was easy for her to be a "superwoman", an superlative she certainly didn't deserve anyway, considering she had the money to employ a cleaner, a nanny, a cook and a gardener. (NH is an incredibly clever person, actually).

I don't know what "paying Bright House" is? Confused

I asked for Lakeland stuff for Christmas one year, including a laundry basket. I reeely reely wanted it, it would have made me happy, but no-one bought it for me Sad, probably through some well-meant sqeamishness about it being too boring. But I am boring
