to ask if you will be going to see Meryl Streep play Thatcher young and old?

The film is said to be out in January. Some Tories are already saying the old lady should not have been portrayed.

But it was daughter Carole Thatcher who wrote about her mothers state
of health.

Why do they say that?

Yes, looking forward to it. Streep is a legend.

AFuckingFestiveKnackeredWoman · 21/11/2011 16:17

I will, I'm a huge Streep fan!

kreecherlivesupstairs · 21/11/2011 16:21

I'd like to but I doubt my DD will agree to it.

HandMini · 21/11/2011 16:29

Deffo. Streep and Thatcher both legends (in v different ways obviously).

MenopausalHaze · 21/11/2011 16:36

Is it just me or does the OP just not make a whole load of sense?

What does Carole Thatcher have to do with anything?

fickencharmer · 21/11/2011 16:38

meta4 Why do they say it? Because they want the youthful so-called Iron Lady emphasised My answer to that is we all get old if we live long enough.

And, if as I suspect, the story is told backwards. Then you will see the old Maggie first.

Well I won't pay to see it on the cinema but will watch when it comes out on DVD. I love Meryl Streep.

InDulciJubilo · 21/11/2011 18:32

TheFeministsWi

I will not pay to see it in the cinema too expensive and nor will I buy a DVD. I will wait for it to come to the television. Not that bothered.

bibbitybobbitybloodyaxe · 21/11/2011 18:33

Are you being unreasonable about what?

LePruneDeMaTante · 21/11/2011 18:34

No.
I'll give myself a conniption. Even the trailer makes me froth at the mouth.

Dawndonna · 21/11/2011 18:35

I'd like to see it but I'm too scared I may start shouting or throwing things at the screen!

I will see it, but only to see my friend play Carol Thatcher!

Otherwise I would imagine I won't bother!

NunOnTheRun · 21/11/2011 22:45

Streep is great. I just can't bear the idea of watching a film dramatising/glorifying Thatcher.

dancingmustard · 21/11/2011 22:47

I can't stand Streep but admire the fuck out of Thatcher.

Streep will kill it so it wont be worth watching.

katkitya · 21/11/2011 22:47

Do you think she knew what she was taking on when she accepted the part. I love Meryl but, I dont think I could stomach the film.
