To put my two year old in babygros at night?

Genuine question. I didn't think it was that odd but DS (just two) is rapidly outgrowing his 18-24 month babygrows (only wears them at night) and I can't find any replacements for 2 years +. Or pop up vests for that matter.

I guess it's time to move on to normal vests and pyjamas? Shame as babygros (pre potty training) are really good for night IMO - cosy and can't ride up.

Not unreasonable but I think when they get to 2 then pyjamas are better. You can get some really nice ones as well.

Feminine · 19/11/2011 16:16

My nearly 3 year old DD still has some :)

They are easy to buy (here in the US) though.

Have you looked on-line yet?

rubyslippers · 19/11/2011 16:16

They do keep them warm

DD who is 2 has a fleecy pair for the winter otherwise she's in PJs

CalmaLlamaDown · 19/11/2011 16:16

You can get larger ones eg primark. also sainsbury do fleece sleepsuits up at age 4-5 i think

ShatnersBassoon · 19/11/2011 16:17

M&S sell babygros in 2-3.

ShatnersBassoon · 19/11/2011 16:17

So does Primark.

Happymm · 19/11/2011 16:18

My nearly 3GS old wears PJ's, but with a big fleecy babygro over the top(mother care) to keep him snuggly all night as he won't stay under any blanket and would get cold if not.

Meglet · 19/11/2011 16:18

yanbu.

My 3yo DD has fleecy sleep suits at night, they're from Primark. She's not potty trained yet so there isn't a mad rush to get her out of them if she needs a wee.

Anonymother · 19/11/2011 16:18

Ah thanks. Had looked at H&M (instore) and mothercare (online).

You can get 2-3 year old sleep suits from M&S online. I prefer them to pyjamas as they stop DS taking his nappy off at night. I have customised some by cutting/ hemming them at the ankle so that they are more like pyjamas ( but cost 1/3 of the actual all-in-ones they sell)

WhenDoISleep · 19/11/2011 16:23

I had some proper babygros last year from Mothercare in size 2-3 yrs for DS. He wore them until the end of the summer when he was 2.6 and was too tall for them.

We also had some all-in-ones (babygros without the feet) from M&S and Next in 2-3yrs - I saw the same type when buying new nightclothes last month (and I think Next might have 3-4yrs as well).

I also have some fab stripey all-in-ones from a couple of European stores that he still wears and will do for some time - like you I prefer them as his tops do tend to ride up.

CalmaLlamaDown · 19/11/2011 16:23

Try searching for sleepsuits online rather than 'babygros', you might get.more results

startail · 19/11/2011 16:24

Because there are just too many poppers to get right on 18-24 month babygrows. Pjs rock!

Anonymother · 19/11/2011 16:25

Feeling silly now have found them in M&S online AND pop up vests which I think are great at all times - v warm and also prevent DS from pulling his nappy off!

OP posts:
MincePieFlavouredVoidka · 19/11/2011 16:26

Next do them too.

Sirzy · 19/11/2011 16:26

Next do much bigger babygrows

Ds is just 2 and is still in babygrows at night, as he is still in 12-18 they will be worn for a long time yet!

Anonymother · 19/11/2011 16:28

...Hmmm is tempting to be without all the poppers on the sleepsuits though startail!
TBH am worried about changing anything about DS's bedtime now that he actually sleeps Blush

Sirzy · 19/11/2011 16:30

For winter we have the fleece ones with zips which keep him lovely and warm (until he wakes up and strips!)

horsemadgal · 19/11/2011 16:33

Tesco bodysuits come in 2-3 and are much stretchier/longer than M&S's (and cheaper!!)

GwendolineMaryLacey · 19/11/2011 16:40

DD is nearly 4 and still wears them. She's picked up on a Monday morning at sparrows' cough by PIL and they're perfect for 6.30am on a winter's morning.

valiumredhead · 19/11/2011 16:46

My ds was in fleecey ones until he was 3 :)

Anonymother · 19/11/2011 16:48

Have just done a nice big M&S order (as I had a giftcard for there). Babygros until 36 months it is! Pop up vests too in rainbow colours. I'm sure he'll be out of them by 17.

ChippingInNeedsSleep · 19/11/2011 16:51

Lovely - they keep them much cosier than jammies that separate in the middle :)

I babysat a 7yo who had a 101 Dalmations zipup, fleecy, sleep suit - sooooo cute :)

GaribaldiGirl · 19/11/2011 17:05

Can I just add that my two eldest daughters (12 and 10 years) are obsessed with 'onesies' (ie babygrows) as are all their schoolfriends. Purchased from Primark at a very reasonable £6, they come with or without feet and EVEN IN ADULT SIZES. Apparently if you go on a sleepover without 'onesie' you are a nobody/dweeb/loser.

AngelofTheLordiscomingDown · 19/11/2011 17:06

Anything in winceyette or vyella is cosy.
