To put my two year old in babygros at night?

Genuine question. I didn't think it was that odd but DS (just two) is rapidly outgrowing his 18-24 month babygrows (only wears them at night) and I can't find any replacements for 2 years +. Or pop up vests for that matter.

I guess it's time to move on to normal vests and pyjamas? Shame as babygros (pre potty training) are really good for night IMO - cosy and can't ride up.

Next do 2-3 year old which fitted my DS till he was four. He still has one of the fleecy type that fits (I used to use them if we were travelling at night) and wants to wear it

yanbu!

all of mine stayed in babygros until they potty trained and needed to be able to toilet by themselves, so over 2!

i have a load of 2-3 babygros if you'd like them, as ds3 is mostly dry at night now and will be moving into pj's

rathlin · 19/11/2011 17:18

Couldn't wait to see the end of poppers and was concerned about DS slipping when running about with a babygro on but I think the fleece ones are good for the winter.

JjingleBeanplusPudalltheway · 19/11/2011 17:38

YANBU

Ds is 4.3 and dd is 3 monday and they both wear 'onesies' both normal and fleece, tesco/asda/sainsburys for fleecy ones H&M for normal ones, they don't have feet in though.

I have babygros for DS who is almost 4.
Getting him to change clothes at all for bed is admittedly a bit of a challenge.
Ironically it's my child who wasn't dry at night until 7 who is best about changing pants & clothes for bed, hymph!

Whyriskit · 19/11/2011 17:58

DS2 is 15 months and I can't see him being out of babygros for ages. Partly it's because he's in reusables and jammies always seem to result in them riding up and him getting wet.

FabbyChic · 19/11/2011 17:58

Its not odd its fantastic I bet he looks real cute.

marriedinwhite · 19/11/2011 18:01

Yes, was about to add that onsies are all the rage here too. dd looks a bit of a wally at 13 lovely and cosy in hers!

glenthebattleostrich · 19/11/2011 18:11

Primark do the fleecy sleepsuits from baby up to adult size. I'm desperate for one but DH says he'll divorce me if I buy one.

The kids ones are fab, they keep DD lovely and warm at night, especially as she won't have a blanket or sleep pod. They are quite small fitting though, DD normally has 2 - 3 sized clothes but we get 3 - 4 from Primarni.

CrotchFlakes · 19/11/2011 18:15

Tescos and John Lewis have pop up vests aged 2-3.
Asda and H&M have good non-fleece sleepsuits without feet.

what is a 'pop up vest'?

Sirzy · 19/11/2011 19:39

a vest with popper underneath

BsshBossh · 19/11/2011 19:41

Next do babygros for 3+ but footless ones. My DD (3.5) is still in a Grobag so is in a cosy footless babygro that doesn't get all tangled up inside. She's moving to a duvet next week, though, so I've bought her normal PJs for that.

Honeydragon · 19/11/2011 19:41

dd is in her age two fleecy babygro now.

sainsburys do lovely fleecy ones up to age 4 and la redoute do footless ones for two year olds

sainsburys do all in one sleepsuits all the way up to 5/6 years

whackamole · 19/11/2011 20:47

Tesco. They only seem to have 2-3 in our local - fine for my nearly 3 year olds but not so great for the 4 week old!

(PS - mine have normal pjs and a couple of sleepsuits, I was only today saying to OH I feel like buying more sleepsuits as they look so cute in them!)

HoldMeCloserTonyDanza · 19/11/2011 20:53

My 20 year old brother and his mates had a big house party with a "onesie" dress code. Everyone wore those big things from Primark.

Onesies are cool.

Trish1200 · 19/11/2011 20:57

YANBU my 2yrs Ds is in pyjamas, because he is potty trained, but I miss having him in babygroos as they look so cute on them. If you plan to potty train any time soon it's probably better to buy pyjamas.

choceyes · 19/11/2011 21:03

How cold are some people's houses that they need fleecey clothes in bed??? If I put my DCs in fleece at night, they will be dripping in sweat! Both mine wear cotton, and only one layer in most weathers, except in winter when they will have a vest underneath.

YANBU though, I love all-in-ones for little ones.

thisisyesterday · 19/11/2011 21:05

well we never have teh heating on at night so i guess our house gets kind of cold

HalleysWaitress · 19/11/2011 21:09

dd (2) is still in all in ones and has popper vests from tesco 2/3. i put in jams because she struggled walking in footed sleepsuits but otherwise i would dont sweat it!

PartialToACupOfMilo · 19/11/2011 21:13

Good to hear about larger sized popper vests. My very nearly two year old is back in babygros now that she fits into the freakishly large Sainsbury's 12-18 months ones we bough a-g-e-s ago. (They say up to 86cms, well I measured dd tonight and she's 89cm tall - and well padded in a reusable nappy - and just fits into them Hmm) I was worried about vests riding up underneath; if you're in a 'sleepsuit' you need a poppered vest. She's also just reaching the end of her sleeping bags, so the next decision is whether to stick with them or not... most likely we will as she really likes getting into them - don't think she'd know it was bedtime if she wasn't in one!
