Posting links is hardly an intellectual challenge, you just tick a box. And bow you made me listen to Nigel bloody Farage, so you are completely U.

AngelofTheLordiscomingDown · 19/11/2011 15:00

Well, I thought he said what many of us think. Obviously, not everyone!

If you are agreeing why are you posting in AIBU?

larks35 · 19/11/2011 15:16

Yes you are!

cocoachannel · 19/11/2011 15:21

You think that many MNers agree with Farage? Really?

I'm not watching the clip in case it gives me high blood pressure, but I am unreasonably going to say that YABU.

Onemorning · 19/11/2011 15:21

Dawndonna · 19/11/2011 16:40

Oh good grief, the idiot thinks he's Napoleon.
Sorry, but he supports the return of hanging, as do all that lot.

They can sod off.

Farage is the head chap in UKIP (United Kingdom Independence Party) and their idea is to get us out of Europe so we don't have to put up with straight bananas or pay £45m per day to the bureaucrats who use it for their salaries or other things that we don't like about Europe.

In 1975 we didn't vote to join the EEC (European Economic Community), purely a trading partnership. We voted to stay in the EEC. Somehow it has, without our having a say, become a European Union with the potential of all countries in it giving up their own sovereignty. It would mean that we would be like the USA with a President of the lot.

Farage's speech in the link just told all the big salary earners (MEPs) there what we thought of the system currently running. Boy! Did he tell them!

Straight bananas Hahahahahahaha!
Didn't think anyone actually believed all that crap.

spugglers · 19/11/2011 21:50

I had to switch off when he started harping back to the second world war. The bloke is a moron. His party is for the daily mail readers. Its the middle class equivalent of the BNP.

Sanesometimes1 · 19/11/2011 23:53

Not trying to be contriversial or anything - exactly what did he say that has ruffled so many feathers here ? is he riight about Germany ? are all of the "members" non elected ? sorry, just don't get it, am I riight in thinking he was voted in by "us" to represent Britain in Europe?, is he regarded as similar to the BNP ( which I abhor) ? It's just that I have never heard of him before.

AngelofTheLordiscomingDown · 20/11/2011 09:21

The MEPs are elected (ours are, anyway) but the unelected ones are those who come up with the ideas for Directives eg, telling Irish farmers how to dip their sheep when they've done it for many years, sale of homemeade bread and jam to be prohibited, the new idea that honey jars have to be labelled with pollen as an ingredient (at the moment, the ingredient is simply honey), pork chops not to be sold with kidneys (they used to be and the kidneys added flavour), plus most of the silly H&S 'rules' we now have to put up with.

I wouldn't care if a cucumber had a curve. All I do is slice it or cut it into strips. What's the matter with vegetables and fruit that are not perfect - they are still edible? Those were the days when you could go to a greengrocers and buy 'Frying Tomatoes'. It just meant that they were suitable only for cooking. Eurocrats have stopped that. Farage and his party - UKIP - just want Britain to be what Britons want, not what other European countries want.

Many Mnetters have no experience of what life should be like because they are too young. I am not being unreasonable. And, before you get on your soapboxes, I am not by any means proposing to go back to utside toilets or wells for water. I have been there, done that and have made my choice prefer to have mod cons but do not want to be dictated to by other countries.

Most of these silly directives are myths. It's complete rubbish promulgated by Farage and his moronic party. And yes they are the supposedly acceptable face of the BNP. Their manifesto is remarkably similar when you read the small print.
Take a look at these:
