To think that if DS can sleep for this long during the day he could surely manage it at night?

DS (3mo) has been asleep for AGES. Don't get me wrong, it's been great. I've tidied the house, put away all our washing, baked for the weekend (big family party), packed for the weekend, had a sneaky snog with DP and am now sat on the sofa with a cup of tea. Excellent.

But why, WHY, can he sleep for 2-3 hours in a stretch during the day but only an hour at a time at night? WHY?

You let him sleep too long during the day so he is not tired enough at night.

cjbartlett · 18/11/2011 15:38

does he get enough fresh air?

Fine for toddlers and pre schoolers, but difficult to stop a young baby.

He'll get there. Let him sleep when he needs to - if I wake dd from daytime naps, she gets overtired and sleeps worse at night. Just a waiting game and at least you're getting good stretches of sleep now - I promise he'll soon do this at night too Grin.

He is still a very young baby and neds his sleep, when he is older he might settle in a pattern

nickelbabe · 18/11/2011 16:00

maybe that's why they say sleep when the baby does?
