why friends-of-friend would you imagine that on my first proper night out since DS all I'd want to do is talk vomit and poo??!!

Feeling a little miffed that once you've had a baby some people think all you want to talk about is babies! DS is almost 6 months (DC2), love him to bits, but on my first proper venture out for a friend's birthday meal why oh why did two of her friends plonk themselves either side of me and talk babies all night?! ALL NIGHT!!

They're both very nice ladies I'm sure but each conversation began with them asking me a question about his sleeping/eating/pooing/rolling but then turned into them giving me chapter and verse on what each of their children did at that stage zzzzzzzzzzzzz

It's not that I don't like talking about him, but not all the bloody time, there's more to me than just being a mother. I even tried to change the subject for a bit of variety, or join in other non-baby conversations going on across the table but to no avail. I went to the loo about 6 times hoping perhaps people would shuffle round the table mad-hatter style (as usually happens at these events) but oh no, no-one had budged. Feel like I wasted my night out really, and I wasn't even drinking which could have numbed the boredom.

Grumble grumble

Drives me nuts too. It was bad enough when I was engaged and the only thing anyone wanted to talk about was the wedding. But that all stopped after the wedding. How long does boring baby talk last for?

Because some mothers DO want to talk about nothing but babies - and it sounds like you met a couple of them on your night out Wink
