To not be all festively excited by a blardy Coke advert?

It's Coca-Cola, people. Not the bloody second coming or something.

Otherwise sane posters seem to get inordinately excited by a company that make billions off the back of marketing sugary, carbonated crap to children and adults using Christmas to advertise and actually think that it signifies the start of the festive season. WT actual F?!

Seriously, if one more person on my FB posts a link to the ad I will de-friend.

And I'm not Grinch-like at all - love Christmas, just can't get into Coke's version of a 'traditional' launch of the festivities.

AIBU?

YANBU. Coke is surely the work of the devil!

StealthPenguin · 18/11/2011 10:59

YABVVU!

It's the best advert ever, and when the changed it back in 2007 the public outcry to "Bring Back The Coke Trucks" was so loud that they probably heard it out in space!

Then again, I'm overly Christmassy this year. Even the Littlewoods advert has stuck in my head! Even if it is shit.

GwendolineMaryLacey · 18/11/2011 11:00

No, it pisses me off too, if it's the one they always play, haven't seen it this year yet.

Holidays aren't coming. Holidays have been, we had those in July and August. Although I suppose in a way they are coming, just not till next year...

YANBU & Here here. But not because I could give a fig(gy pudding) about the company/what it stands for/what it pedals, but because to get excited about it is UNORIGINAL.

lowra · 18/11/2011 11:03

Don't mind the coke advert. Hate the Littlewoods advert, and hate the word 'blardy'.

ViviPru · 18/11/2011 11:05

Also, I know I'm being unoriginal myself to comment this on every thread about adverts, but I genuinely can't conceive of anyone watching anything on a commercial channel in real time. Sitting through adverts is alien to me.

lowra · 18/11/2011 11:08

I agree Vivi, I usually watch on sky plus about 10 minutes after the programme has started (dependant on the length of the programme).

sospanfach · 18/11/2011 11:11

Is the link between Coke and Christmas a yoof fing? It is lost on me. Mind you I don't buy Coke now for pious ethical reasons. But it does not fill me with festive cheer to see Christmas Coke advert, so YANBU

Trills · 18/11/2011 11:16

YANBU

It's fucking November, for a start.

I do like Coke Zero though.

Sparklingbrook · 18/11/2011 11:18

The Coca Cola truck is doing a tour of the UK. You can have your photo taken with it! Hmm

OrmIrian · 18/11/2011 11:19

I agree.

I always feel a bit deflated when I see the Coke christmas ads. 'Holidays are coming, holidays are coming...' Snow, lights, sleigh bells! And then they start drinking bloody coke! FFS. not even a dry sherry? Bah! Humbug....

OrmIrian · 18/11/2011 11:20

Actually that was last year but I expect it's more or less the same this year.

HugosGoatee · 18/11/2011 11:31

Sparkling - an FB 'friend' who should know better posted a pic of the truck near where she lives, with some sort of 'yaaay' type comment about it being all adults getting excited and taking pictures of it Hmm

I think it's meant to be ironic, being excited about it, or something? End result the same - more advertising for Coke.

Gah.
