Had run into the pond during his forest schools session!

The teacher who rang me sounded so apologetic and not very amused that i sniggered a bit.
His teacher came running over when i picked him up, asking if i was ok etc Hmm
i mean hes 7, was supervised and ran across the pond because he didnt see it (its in an area they cant go in unless on forest schools). He is now known as pond boy at home.

Just wondered if i was being a bit inappropriate?

I'd have laughed too Grin

Minshu · 17/11/2011 21:49

Perhaps it looked more dramatic in real life and their descriptions didn't do it justice? What does DS think of the episode?

JugsMcGee · 17/11/2011 21:50

She should be thankful you're not PFB and didn't threaten to sue for poor ickle Timmy getting wet Grin

mosschops30 · 17/11/2011 21:51

He thinks its funny and was a bit upset initally, mainly because of old soggy pants.
However was later heard bragging to friends 'hey i went in the pond'

me too Grin

DD once (in her infinite wisdom) decided to have a 'shower' under the edge to the porch bit in their outside area at preschool - when it was peeing down... she was drenched... also managed to create a following so a few of them were! Blush

luckily - preschool knew that I was quite happy to collect her filthy / covered in mud / paint / soaking delete as appropriate or more often all of the above so enjoyed telling me, I often wonder how some of the other parents took it!

Meglet · 17/11/2011 21:51

Yanbu.

DD had her finger ran over by a trike at nursery the other week. They called me to tell me what had happened and added "she's just had seconds of dinner so seems to be fine" Smile.

alison10011 · 17/11/2011 21:52

Sorry, but I laughed at the mental picture of your ds in the pond and if it had been my daughter I still would have laughed. I wonder if they are so used to people complaining that the teacher was taken aback that you didn't?

mosschops30 · 17/11/2011 21:52

jugs i think thats why they were so over the top. Seriously thats what forest schools is about getting your all in one waterproof and wellies on and getting seriously dirty Grin

She probably thought you'd want her head on the block. I can imagine a thread on here . AIBU - My son fell in to the pond on a school trip, can I have the teacher hung drawn and quartered?

mosschops30 · 17/11/2011 21:56

I have 3 dcs, a stresssful job and a currently very busy part time hobby, she'd have to wait until at least mid January for me to find the time to hang and quarter her Grin

I so would've laughed too. YANBU!

rogersmellyonthetelly · 17/11/2011 23:25

I would have pissed myself laughing I'm afraid. But then again my standard response to injury is " never mind it won't fall off, here have some chocolate" so really a dip in the pond wouldn't ruffle my feathers.

stealthsquiggle · 17/11/2011 23:28

I would have laughed too. OTOH I am not sure DS's school would even have called - more likely I would have found out when I picked him up and he was in games kit or whatever else was dry.

worraliberty · 17/11/2011 23:31

When my DS was in year 2, his teacher called me over at the end of the day and apologised profusely for 'headbutting him between the legs' Grin

Apparently, they were lining up in PE and crawling under each other's legs as part of a team sport thing...and she thought she'd have a go, but she stood up too quick and DS apparently screamed "Oh my groin, my groin!"

He was fine though, she however was mortified and most relieved when I burst out laughing Grin

mumatron · 17/11/2011 23:36

dd1 has come home in some states from forest schools. She loved it though.

one of the boys in her class ended up in the pond, on purpose I think. the teacher was not impressed.
