To be annoyed at people who put their rubbish in my bin?

I live on a busy-ish road. Recently I have noticed that passers-by are putting their rubbish in my bin, which lives in my front garden, behind my wall.

The rubbish ranges from dirty nappies to crisp packets, chicken boxes etc. It is really annoying because the refuse collectors will only take things which are properly bagged up, and not things just loose in the bin, so I have to pick all these disgusting things out of my bin by hand, and bag them, just because people cannot be bothered to use the public bin which is no more than 5 metres from my front wall.

And don't get me started on the people who just toss their rubbish into my front garden...

Ok, so it's not the end of society as we know it, but does anyone else think this behaviour is actually quite rude?

YANBU if the public bin is that close and your refuse people don't pick up loose rubbish.

I suppose they think they are being tidy but why not use the public bin - aarrgh!

Of course yanbu. Move your bin away from your boundary wall and only site/move it on the eve/morn of collection. the low standards of others just cannot help themselves and will inevitably give into tempation and they are the real rubbish.

I would move the bin, or try putting some old bricks on top of it. If your bin is less convenient to use than the public bin, then people might stop using it.

Someone put a bag of dog poo in my bin last week minutes after the bin men had emptied it. Bastards, it's going to reek by the next collection
