Dh hasnt had a works doo since 2008. I wore a little black dress from french connection and apparently there are pictures of me in that dress on the intranet.

Another party this xmas now, same people more or less going.

AIBU to wear the same dress? I love it, never get chance to wear it, will wear different tights, shoes amd jewellery

Black dresses are all pretty much the same unless it is particularly unusual (ie Liz Hurley and the safety pins), so I doubt anyone would even notice. You will be fine.

no one will remember at all

Depressing but true

LAlady · 16/11/2011 15:05

Black dresses are always a safe bet. Dress it up with other accessories and no-one will even notice.

Sadly someone does remember! The girl in the office always bangs on about the dress to dh saying she'll never forget seekng me in it because she wanted to buy it but felt too fat!

I doubt anyone will remember it. Plus you can add something to it - a colourful brooch or something, to make it look a little different?

AngelofTheLordiscomingDown · 16/11/2011 15:11

Good God! I'm still wearing clothes that I wore in the 1980s and I'm only just beginning to buy new things - from TK Maxx where you can buy extremely good designer makes for peanuts.

TiggyD · 16/11/2011 15:14

If you're a woman they would have forgotten about it by now. If you're a man they would probably still remember.

worldgonecrazy · 16/11/2011 15:15

Wear it and if anyone does make a bitchy comment just smile and say you are revelling in the fact that you can still get into it unlike some people who have to buy a size bigger every year . . . . .

IWillOnlyEatBeans · 16/11/2011 15:16

Would it really bother you if people did notice?

I wore the same dress to two weddings which were a few months apart - same groups of friends. One of DH's (male!) friends noticed and commented. I wasn't bothered at all! If you would be upset/embarrassed then wear something else just to be on the safe side (in case the thinks-she's-fat colleague is there!)

ViviPru · 16/11/2011 15:17

VP says wear the dress

HipHopOpotomus · 16/11/2011 15:19

they will all gasp and stop and point and whisper and .............

Just kidding - no one will remember a thing about last year yet alone 3 years ago.

limitedperiodonly · 16/11/2011 15:26

If she does mention it mosschops, and it's meant in a bitchy way, just say: 'Yes, aren't I lucky that I'm still as slim as I was three years ago?'

Otherwise ignore it. You obviously looked nice.

Ephiny · 16/11/2011 15:31

Why would you not wear it? Are we supposed to pretend we never wear the same item of clothing more than once?

Like BMF I have The Dress which I always wear to the (rare) occasion that requires a dress :) No one's mentioned it, it's quite possible that people have noticed, but I don't see it as anything to be embarrassed about. After all DP wears The Suit to every occasion that requires formal dress - don't tell me there's something wrong with that as well?

fluffy123 · 16/11/2011 15:32

If Kate can get away with wearing the same thing twice I am sure you can.

RainboweBrite · 16/11/2011 16:23

Of course you csn wear it!

fuzzynavel · 16/11/2011 16:33

YANBU.

Wear it.

If the one who remembers it makes a comment just say. Yes, good choice huh its' proving to be timeless.

And as a previous poster said - wear it with pride knowing that 3 years later it still fits.

GirlWithALlamaTattoo · 16/11/2011 17:10

Is it a distinctive dress? Could you get away with pretending it was similar but not the same one? Do you have an alternative?

I'd feel uncomfortable, especially if girl who commented on it is still working there. Silly, but there it is.
