to think that not every man on mumsnet must be "dodgy"

A thread on mums net to settle an argument about mumsnet...
DH thinks that if a man is on mumsnet then he must have an ulterior motive, to chat up 'mums' - he wants me to add that he thinks they must be devious. I think, perhaps naively that there are probably some genuine male parents, aka dads, wishing to discuss parenting issues. DH believes men should be on dadsnet.
Genuinely looking for opinions.

That is dull.

So like a man.

Pan · 16/11/2011 19:46

Deal with it.Smile

Hullygully · 16/11/2011 19:50

I'd much rather judge. I like a bit of judgery of a Wednesday.

Honeydragon · 16/11/2011 19:56

What do you like on Thursday's

Honeydragon · 16/11/2011 19:56

Hullygully · 16/11/2011 19:56

More judging and some light complaining.

I have started a judgey thread to meet my needs.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 16/11/2011 19:57

Oh I love a good "ick there's men! thread" Heaven forbid we little females chat with people that have a penis. Grin

AmazingBouncingFerret · 16/11/2011 19:58

Sorry OP not implying that you think that.

AnyFucker · 16/11/2011 20:01

sorry, chuck

Trills · 16/11/2011 20:03

I always think that "female solidarity" or "the sisterhood" is a bit odd.

My desire to be nice to someone or supportive of them has little to do with their reproductive organs.

It does have something to do with having gone through similar experiences, so there is something in it, because women are more likely to have experienced the same issues as me, but that's all.

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 16/11/2011 20:05

ABF don't think its neccessarily 'Ick there's a man' just sometimes its an assumption its a woman and a bit of a oops to know its a man, easier when you know for some reason that I am still trying to fathom Confused

AnyFucker · 16/11/2011 20:05

hully pan tried to tell me his recipe for flapjack was the correct and definitive one

I demurred

violently, and with shouting

we have got over it now though, and are happy to accept there are many flavours flapjack, all of them equal in the eyes of The Lord

there you go, you can stop worrying about it now

Hullygully · 16/11/2011 20:05

I don't feel quite the same about posters when I discover they are male.

AnyFucker · 16/11/2011 20:06

flavours of flapjack

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 16/11/2011 20:06

possibly trills that you may well say differnt things to help depending on the circumstances obviously.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 16/11/2011 20:09

StepAway I wasnt talking about the confusion and sometimes embarrassment when you realise someone is male when you've previously thought they are female I'm talking about the thankfully small minority of posters that think men shouldnt be on here.

KingofHighVis · 16/11/2011 20:12

I like to imagine you all naked when I read your posts.

Psammead · 16/11/2011 20:27

Well I am naked, so that's ok.

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 16/11/2011 20:27

Honeydragon · 16/11/2011 20:28

Psammead · 16/11/2011 20:28

AnyFucker · 16/11/2011 20:32

flatbellyfella · 16/11/2011 20:48

Another dodgy male here,it's taken me since lunch time to get through the 11 pages of very humerous postings , I loved the shed comments A/F wish you could have visited my shed,(when I had one) . I do read many of the female body problems posted, but would not post an opinion on them.
I for several years picked up my children from school & stood alone while the gangs of mums gossiped in clusters, never feeling welcome to join them. I do feel welcome by most posters on MN ,reading & posting on here has helped me enormously to try to get back my confidence/ personality after hitting rock bottom after 40 years of marriage, to , out of the blue be deceived & find myself divorced & alone. But I don't feel so alone now reading all your humor, anger, flirting, you are all important to me at this time.
