to think that not every man on mumsnet must be "dodgy"

A thread on mums net to settle an argument about mumsnet...
DH thinks that if a man is on mumsnet then he must have an ulterior motive, to chat up 'mums' - he wants me to add that he thinks they must be devious. I think, perhaps naively that there are probably some genuine male parents, aka dads, wishing to discuss parenting issues. DH believes men should be on dadsnet.
Genuinely looking for opinions.

Sorry.Honeydragon.

I tell my DH that I'll report him to MN when he behaves like a Neanderthal......

TheScaryJessie · 15/11/2011 23:34

^what, like mumsnet? There's nothing niche about mumsnet!'
Have a feeling I'm going to get tired of relaying responses...^

Precisely! The dadsnet section and this other dadsnet seem very, very quiet. Very niche.

So, a parent, of any gender, who really wants to discuss sleeping, weaning, trainer cups, pocket money, etc would very likely end up here, instead.

Honeydragon · 15/11/2011 23:37

He got the imaginary friend thing from another posters dh and liked it. He's vaguely aware that wives meeting people in RL that they have met on the internet is supposed to be a bad thing ... but he has decided I wouldn't have an affair as it would cut into Mnet time Grin

Dh also suggests putting things to Mnet. I suspect he bought my Birthday presents* last weekend with me posting them on here in mind Hmm

My DH doesn't believe in any of you. He thinks I made you up. Especially when you agree with me and think he is BU.

Honeydragon · 15/11/2011 23:41

Wilson dh....we are watching you

WilsonFrickett · 15/11/2011 23:43

Mahahahahahahaha

Proudnscary · 15/11/2011 23:48

I'll be honest my dh would probably rather poke his eyes out then join the MN party - but he loves to hear about threads and always has his penny's worth to put in! I really like the fact that there are loads of male posters on here, makes it much more interesting and well rounded.

AnyFucker · 15/11/2011 23:54

deargdoom how funny that you would use this thread as a place to slag off those evil feminists

I like having men on here

Except when they act like arseholes

The same for women

It's just like RL really Smile

Men who post here do need to be mindful of the fact that this is a female-dominated space though, and be quite careful they don't come across as "oi, wimmin, listen to me, my opinion deserves respect even though I haven't earned it other than by possessing a penis"

some of the nicest blokes can fall into that trap, but they don't do it for long, or they take the hump and leave Smile

Honeydragon · 15/11/2011 23:55

I like fruitloops Smile

AnyFucker · 16/11/2011 00:03

I like honey nut loops

but I like frosties better

Honeydragon · 16/11/2011 00:08

My favourite is lucky charms.

My post office sells them, and Cap'n Crunch. I am often hyped up on a cereal sugar rush, which is a grand state of affairs Grin

AnyFucker · 16/11/2011 00:13

Golden Grahams... aahhh

Honeydragon · 16/11/2011 00:20

I'm hungry Sad

TiggyD · 16/11/2011 00:43

Shhhh! Quiet now. man talking. Why not knit some jam while you're waiting for permission to talk again?

He sounds like one of these people who believe that the different sexes are different species instead of hugely varying individuals of the same one. If we peeled off our skins we would all be in agony and die, so don't do that.

Carry on whittling ladies.

(I actually wanted to say wittering but it got 'corrected' to whittling. I quite like it like that!)

AnyFucker · 16/11/2011 00:46

we are too busy scoffing cereal, Tiggy, 'cos we is hormonal and that

TiggyD · 16/11/2011 00:47

Us men don't have hormones. We have sheds instead.

DontCallMeFrothyDragon · 16/11/2011 00:55

There's some dodgy men on mumsnet. There's some dodgy women. But in each case, it's a minority. Are men not allowed to discuss their DCs, every day life, etc? I have a sneaking suspiscion exBIL would love it on here, going by his endless stream of his DS related statuses...

Agree with AF's comment about it being a female dominated space

I'm here because the male domination of so much of the net (and RL) makes it difficult to hear female voices even on matters where we probably don't differ much on gender lines. And I feel that I among "friends" in the most harmless and cyber of ways.

AnyFucker · 16/11/2011 01:05

harmless ?

haven't you encountered the nest of viperish, bile ridden, fire breathing, harriden-like, man eating feminists yet ? Grin

Andrewofgg · 16/11/2011 01:09

I just like living dangerously!

Goodnight, all!

AnyFucker · 16/11/2011 01:11

< sharpens pitchfork >

in my fucking shed

good night Smile

DontCallMeFrothyDragon · 16/11/2011 01:11

Night Andrew. Watch out for those Frothy feminist Dragons on your way out. Grin

KatieMiddIeton · 16/11/2011 01:22

Well the only remotely flirtatious man on here is Andrewofgg who says things like women should be respected and treated properly. That is very attractive when compared with a man who thinks the only reason men would post on Mumsnet would be to chat up mums.

Tbh I doubt we're most pervy men's target demographic really, unless opinionated, clever women who don't suffer fools gladly is what's considered hot.
