To think that Sainsbury's should stock the tins for the cakes too?

Not being the worlds next Delia, but consumed with an irrational desire to do some Christmas baking I pondered the bag of all you need to make a Christmas cake mix this afternoon. I decided to chance it, live a little.

I collected the additional eggs, butter and zesty lemon and ventured up the utensil aisle for a 20cm tin.

At this point I find Sainsbo stock 16, 19 and 23 Cm tins only!!!

AIBU to think the person developing the cake mix should have rendezvoused with the utensil manager before creating his £10 miracle bag?

you should add a little more danger to your life, am almost certain the 19cm would have sufficed.

A tip. I did this cake yesterday. 4 hours was too long.

You don't have to have a tin. Delia allows you to double wrap the cake in paper and then use foil.

Oh, and good luck.

NotSuchASmugMarriedNow · 14/11/2011 18:13

YANBU - silly isn't it.

Having said that, the 19 cm would have been fine.

squeakytoy · 14/11/2011 18:17

1cm is really not going to make a difference Grin

MardyBra · 14/11/2011 18:20

I always appreciate an extra 1cm Wink

EnjoyResponsibly · 14/11/2011 18:51

See Mardy you'd have to drag the tone down.

Who knew that a 19 cmer would be OK? Surely the stoopid bake by numbers cake is for the useless articles more cuisinely challenged. I tried to work out if the cooking time would change but it was too much for my basic maths skills.

This wouldn't happen on Masterchef would it.
