I think that's unfair - its not just about money but also recycling and reuse. I've been known to put my kitchen cloths through the wash when I've been really low on funds and it was the last one in the packet. also been known to shove scrubbing brush in dishwasher as it seems to give it a new lease of life if its got a bit grubby

I wash and reuse cloths and I also put scrubbing brushes in the dishwasher. I would throw out a sponge though. I always thought of them as disposable.

I'm using bits of cut up old t-shirts and stuff. They all go through the wash though - they last for years.

Save a fortune on laundry bills. Give your dirty shirts to Oxfam. They
will wash and iron them and you can buy them back for fifty pence.

Spraying anything with Febreeze is skanky.
Washing sponges and cloths is fine. I don't see the problem with bunging them in the dishwasher if it's set at 60 degrees.

If you can't afford new sponges, perhaps it's time to sell the dishwasher
