walked into a pub chain today for a quick after work catch up with a few friends. Went to find a seat only to discover a couple opposite me who had the table manners of people who had never ate at a table; mouths wide open chomping on whatever they could cram in there, holding cutlery like f*ing daggers.
Decided to move tables so as not to sit looking at an episode of "Life on Earth-When Humans go Hungry", only to discover they had a three/four year old with them who was playing up because daddy wouldn't give him any more money for the video game thingy. Daddy took his pint with him and joined the boy on the machine leaving fat over made up wife with the perfect oppurtunity to polish of the rest of her darling spouses food, which she duly did!!
She then joins him and child asking for a pound for the "fruity", he says no. She starts gushing "but he's had a tenner's worth!". pointing to the child, he then tells her to fuck off in a whispery voice and returns to the table only to tell her she was a greedy bitch for eating his food.

Christ above, do people have any sense how to behave

Charmless people can be found everywhere.

Sad but true.

McPhee · 11/11/2011 22:13

Oh blimy, just reading that has made my teeth itch!!

I would have found it hard to keeps my 'tuts' in place Blush

troisgarcons · 11/11/2011 22:14

Illiterate people are everywhere too

AgentZigzag · 11/11/2011 22:17

'fat over made up wife'

Blimey.

But you wouldn't write the word 'fucking' out Confused

YANBU to want people to have better eating habits, but you should know better to expect them.

Sirzy · 11/11/2011 22:18

Poor eating habits are a rear bugbear of mine. I don't want to see anyone's half chewed food.

hmc · 11/11/2011 22:20

I don't much care for the tone of your op tbh

southeastastra · 11/11/2011 22:20

fgs go somewhere less offensive to you then

hate these sort of threads

gallifrey · 11/11/2011 22:34

and why oh why can't people hold a knife and fork properly?

BarmyBiscuit · 11/11/2011 23:11

You went to a pub chain and you are annoyed at manners? Go somewhere posh then.
I say this as someone who worked in a well known pub chain for years and has frequented these places for a long time.
I remember once when working in the kitchen that a plate got sent back as the actual plate hadn't been warm. It was a meal for £2.99 ffs!

LulaBear · 11/11/2011 23:30

Well they don't sound exactly charming... but neither do you OP tbh.

squeakytoy · 11/11/2011 23:31

Why should you accept sub-standard service just because a meal is "only" £2.99. You still wouldnt want it to be cold, unless it was a salad! Grin

thenightsky · 11/11/2011 23:33

I'd rather see that than people stuff their faces as they walk down the high street.

HeresTheThingBooyhoo · 11/11/2011 23:34

standards? what standards were they falling short of? standard make-up? standard size of waist? standard level of swearing? what?

A1980 · 12/11/2011 00:03

You went to eat at a pub chain complete with video games? Good Jesus what sort of clientele did you expect?

A1980 · 12/11/2011 00:06

There are also much worse thing. Our local McDonalds is inside a shopping centre and there is never enough space at the weekends. So people take their food outside and sit on the floor to eat it with their backs against the shop windows. Every weekend, there are parents and children sitting with their happy meal boxes and burger boxes on the floor, not even on a tray. It's hardly sanitary and very ill mannered. I am sick to death of tripping over people and their fucking food when i'm trying to shop. They line all the front of the shop windows all day on a Saturday.

GreenEyesandNiceHam · 12/11/2011 00:07

Didn't anyone ever tell you it's rude to stare?

EricNorthmansMistress · 12/11/2011 00:08

You sound as unpleasant as them actually. No, wait, more unpleasant.

uniCorny · 12/11/2011 00:08

You sound like a ridiculous snob. Your spelling and grammar is weak BTW.

worraliberty · 12/11/2011 00:09

I don't get this sort of food chain snobbery Confused

Do people really not expect a basic level of manners from people just because they eat at a Harvester for example?

Sorry but manners are manners and they cross all 'classes' and choices of eateries.

It doesn't matter if you eat at Maccy Dees or the Ivory.

worraliberty · 12/11/2011 00:10

Ivy even LOL!! Blush

ihatecbeebies · 12/11/2011 00:17

YANBU, I hate it when people eat like pigs, is it really that hard to close your mouth while you eat?

ihatecbeebies · 12/11/2011 00:18

Haha I see the grammar police are out in full force!

MarianneM · 12/11/2011 00:24

You sound horrible OP!

uniCorny · 12/11/2011 00:24
AgentZigzag · 12/11/2011 00:35

Hmmm, I'd like a truncheon but I'm not bothered about grammar or where stuff's posted, d'you think they'd let me in anyway Corny?

I am bothered about people eating like pigs though, if that would help?
