AIBU to not want to be guilt tripped into buying a plastic bag

there is a small local shop who whenever i nip there try to convince me to buy a plastic bag 'cause "the money all goes to charity" yes but the charge is to discourage people to buy one, not used as a selling feature!

Can't you just take your own reuseable bag and simply say 'no thanks, I have one' when they ask you? If they keep going on about it then YANBU. If they only ask once, then YABabitU.

i do take my own, or just carry my milk or whatever to the car but they really try to get you to buy one "go on, it's only 5p" "no thanks i've got one (gesturing to bag)" "but it goes to a good cause" "erm i know but i have a bag thanks(holding bag up again)" "it's a local charity that this money goes to, they need our support" (it's at this point i run out of things to say and just wander off!)

just give them 5p and dont take the bag, bit for charity, bit for enviroment!?

ShockinHolyTempers · 11/11/2011 19:51

I would actually start avoiding the shop over this. How annoying to be begged at every time you go in. Stupid and totally counter productive.

loolooskiptotheloo · 11/11/2011 20:02

i don't want to give them 5p, i chose the charities i support and support both local and national on a regular basis (not that that matters really) should add we're in wales so all shops charge 5p a bag and the money goes to charity

I'd happily pay 5p or maybe even more to buy my way out of that every time I went shopping! Money well spent!

maybe i should just remember milk wine, loo roll wine and washing up liquid wine when i do the weekly shop to save going in there so much!
