so I can no longer use it in work?!?!

I use it to plan my shopping list and make sure I'm shopping in the cheapest place.

How did they change it so you can't use it at work? Is it not more likely that your work realized you were shopping rather than, you know, working, and blocked it?

Who the hell is Tess?

duckdodgers · 12/11/2011 08:50

It wont be Mysupermarket - it will be your works filters. There are certain sites I cant access at work, eg Facebook and lots that are blocked because they deem it a "forum" or social media luckily Mumsnet isnt one of them

Birdsgottafly · 12/11/2011 08:54

My work blocks me from looking at Christmas lights Confused, very annoying that i cannot plan Christmas at work.

AuntieMaggie · 12/11/2011 10:06

No its not blocked - they've updated their site and because our web browser at work is an older version it doesnt display it properly.

And yes I do it on my lunch break thanks :)

I have the same problem, so annoying!!

RustyBear · 12/11/2011 10:12

Ask your techs to update your web browser! You don't have to tell them which site you can't access - it could be one you need for work...

AuntieMaggie · 12/11/2011 10:13

not a chance rusty....

AIBU to think your work shouldn't be running Internet Explorer from 1999?

I don't believe in MySuperMarket anyway, they don't make the same substitutions that I would make if I were actually shopping in an alternate supermarket so the price comparisons are meaningless.

Have you tried going to the supermarket websites directly - they might still work.

AuntieMaggie · 13/11/2011 18:41

Probably not trills but I work in the public sector and our IT is really out of date... and thats another spending freeze been imposed on us...

Anyway, I use it as I can put a shopping list together, check prices and print it out with out giving over my details or going on more than one site (I usually then shop in Aldi for the stuff that I can get there!)

But it costs nothing to upgrade your internet browser. It's not even a 5 minute job.

Just log an issue with your IT department, surely?

You don't have to justify why - and surely a hint of a security issue / wanting to check that they're updating it regularly is part of best practice for an IT dept anyway?

What kind of public sector organisation thinks that browser updates aren't part of the IT dept process? Hmm

Hulababy · 13/11/2011 18:47

I don't find mysupermarket that great tbh. I find that it depends very much on which of the supermarkets you chose from and the subs are very often not like for like, so you don't get a good comparison. I have managed to make all the supermarkets come out cheaper depending on who I start with.
