OK, so he went to a birthday party today at Build-A-Bear. And when they invited him to go and choose a bear to build, he settled on the pinkest, sparkliest campest one in the shop - the assistant actually came over to me and asked if this was OK (I do not think I look like that much of a Daily Mail reader myself...). I said of course it was, it was up to him what he had.
I kind of like the fact that this was a birthday bash for 7 and 8 year old boys at build-a-bear anyway: maybe there is hope for a less gender-obsessed future.

My son would have done the same!

Ooh brilliant, I am quite jealous of your DS's bear! :)

My 7 year old has a pram, I'm all for a less gender obsessed future! And like Jane, am jealous of his bear! :)

That's cheered me right up after watching Young Apprentice on catch-up. Was so Shock at the gender divide in one of the teams - the girls can arrange the pretty flowers, but us the menz will go and do the manly selling. Go JrSolidGold!

It's got nothing to do with the Daily Mail, she just didn't want you moaning at her Grin

Pink shirts have been in fashion for Men for a long long time now...and whilst the majority of boys wouldn't exactly want a Hello Kitty bedroom, they're generally not too opposed to having a few pink toys IME.

Awww that's what my no3 son would have done too - he's 7 on Friday Grin

My 12 soon to be 13 years old ds needs a suit for a school thing. He has chosen a pink waistcoat and cravat with a diamanté stud.

my 3 year old son chose a baby doll dressed in bright pink in the toy shop. his dad's face when he unwrapped it was a picture (and full of disgust. )
his sister chose a viaduct for the wooden railway.
