Following the sad death of the Red Arrows pilot today the NOK requested a grace period before the details were made public so it was announced that the pilot's name would be released tomorrow. So why have the Daily Mail seen fit to release it already? Totally inexcusable in my eyes, surely 'freedom of the press' gone too far?

Yep, but then the MOD shouldn't have released his name to the press because one of them was always going to release it early to gain 'that scoop'

So blood sad.

MrsUnassumingTroll · 09/11/2011 04:18

Even The Sun only refers to his age and rank. Mind you, that's enough to figure it out from looking at the Arrows' website.

I hope they get hit by a large fine. Not that it will ease the suffering of the family.

Thumbwitch · 09/11/2011 04:19

oh worse! they included photos of the dead pilot as well? How bloody shameless and unpleasant of them.

Well I hope someone makes a complaint to the Press Complaints Commission and they get severely reprimanded - but it's doubtful.

RIP to the Red Arrow in question and condolences to all his family. I hope they burn the Daily Fail in the streets.

penguin73 · 09/11/2011 07:46

There is a 'gentlemen's agreement' that any details released by the MOD to the press in the event of a military death are not released until the go ahead is given by the family, this is rarely breached and there was no need for it to be now. Please join the many who have already submitted a complaint to the PCC if you can:

Liz Jones'll probably be down there next week

Bossybritches22 · 09/11/2011 08:16

YANBU

A scoop over respect for a grieving family, despicable.

Andrewofgg · 09/11/2011 08:26

What do you mean this time?

exoticfruits · 09/11/2011 08:26

Only one word- and bossybritches has used it-despicable.

MenopausalHaze · 09/11/2011 08:28

What a scummy piece of shite that paper really is - too foul to even wipe your arse with IMO. I expect even as we speak Liz Jones is composing some vile confession that will somehow incorporate this story. Disgraceful.

Portofino · 09/11/2011 08:30

I swore never ever to click on a Daiy Fail link after the Amanda Knox guilty story - obviously you cannot believe one bloody thing in there.

GrimmaTheNome · 09/11/2011 08:34

There is a 'gentlemen's agreement'

Well obviously that doesn't apply to DM journalists.

Jenn1982 · 09/11/2011 09:15

YANBU. Disgusting, but not surprising from that paper.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 09/11/2011 09:17

It is disgusting. Hopefully the public will be dignified and silent and take their lead from the family and what they want to do.

complexnumber · 09/11/2011 13:45
