To think this is a bit much for a cartoon shown during children's TV?

Someone reminded me of this the other day. It was a cartoon shown during the school holidays on BBC1 in the 80s. Watch the daughter in the opening titles going out and coming back from her date (at about 0:44 in the video). How did that slip through the net? Did they just think "it's a cartoon, it must be for kids"?

Mmm, I remember watching this and I also remember the girl coming home and I remember thinking nothing of it. Opinions of what's acceptable obviously change over 30 years.

Should I worry if my 12 year old wants to watch Family Guy?

I wouldn't let a 12 year old watch family guy. What rating do the DVDs get?

15

OK, I thought it would be 18 for some reason, I guess letting 12 year olds watch isn't that bad then.

My 12 year olds watch family guy and love it.

15 certificate for Family Guy, whilst the Inbetweeners (which I would consider an absolute no, even if many of DC2's parents don't) is 18.

I loved Wait til your Father gets home.

I think, seeing the bit you mention, that at first I didn't get what the problem was and then I realised but really I think, it being a cartoon and the cartoons I used to watch I would think it refered to some occassion in the cartoon where she went out for a romantic date but it all went wrong ie they ended up breaking down and she was the one who had to sort it which included dragging the car through a forest or some such place. Because males can often be portrayed as week or useless if it suits. At least I really hope it wouldn't have been referring to anything horrible.

I thought it was just referring to her fooling around in the back of the car with her date but the way it looks is a bit extreme for that .
