To take the ticket to the football match

Ok, the history here is DH has 2 brothers. IMO one brother (younger) is great and the other (older) is a selfish git in every way. DH gets on with both of them and they are all sports fans. In the past DH would have gotten tickets for all 3 of them and the older one would never pay or would pay half and then turn up with no money so DH would have to pay for him too.
DH bought tickets to the Ireland qualifier next week and his taking younger brother and FIL. He never asked older brother as even he is getting fed up with his attitude.
At the moment it is looking like FIL won't be able to make it as he will be working over the water. So we have an extra ticket. DH said he supposes he better offer it to older brother and I asked will he get the money. DH said he wouldn't ask as it's all last minute. So I said I wanted to go.
But the only reason is so older BIL doesn't go. If we're going to be out the money isn't is better I get the use of it rather than someone else.
Or is that petty. Should the football fan be going?

YANBU I think your DH should stop buying any tickets for his older DB in future unless he gets the money up front.
