use a web address as a statement

I'm tired dot com!! No you're just fucking tired why put .com on the bloody end.

Does anyone else hate this and if so what's the most cringe worthy example you have heard.

Yes what does Ceebs mean grin

OP posts:
RalphGnu · 08/11/2011 09:08

Ceebs is short for CBA, which is short for can't be arsed.

DP and I have started using teen-speak as a joke at home; unfortunately it has become addictive.

"Do you want to go somewhere for dinner tonight?"
"Nah, ceebs."
"K. Shall we get takeaway?"
"Totes."

RalphGnu · 08/11/2011 09:39

Totes = totally

rofflecopter = um, I think it's an extension of ROFL.

TotemPole · 08/11/2011 09:39

ceebs has 5 letters, CBA has 3. It isn't shorter.Confused

What does Mary Whitehouse have to do with puddles and swimming pools? Confused Confused

Does sick mean good or bad now. Does go sick on someone mean they will be pleased with you and pat you on the back or they will shout at you?Confused Confused Confused

Bugsy2 · 08/11/2011 09:40

Oh Ralph - you are down with the kids! & I am so not! There we go, couple of cringey phrases.
Ok, I have to ask - does anyone know anyone else who adds "ski" to the end of words? My boss does this. So, he'll say "Morningski" and "I'm offski" and "chillski". He is nearly 60 & to the best of my knowledge has never been any where near a ski slope. What is that all about?

TotemPole · 08/11/2011 09:41

rofflecopter, you roll on the floor laughing, then spin round like a helicopter? A bit like break dancing with laughter.

RalphGnu · 08/11/2011 09:46

No TotemPole, it isn't shorter and that's what drives me mad.

Mary Whitehouse Experience - that's you that is

Clossaintjacques · 08/11/2011 10:01

Oh yes bugsy2 offski that's annoying

OP posts:
festivalwidow · 08/11/2011 10:10

I think we did 'chinny chin chin' if we thought someone was lying (said while stroking imaginary beard)
Can't understand 'sick' or 'jokes' and can't bear 'lulz', though my 30 and 40something colleagues keep each other amused in dull meetings by finishing a difficult discussion with 'Whatevs'...

To think that Britain once had an Empire and gave The World its language and some of its greatest literature.

sozzledchops · 08/11/2011 10:29

God, I'm so behind the times, never heard or seen this.

Clossaintjacques · 08/11/2011 10:37

Someone on another thread just wrong "I heart Hello Kitty" haha!!

OP posts:
TotemPole · 08/11/2011 10:50

Thanks for the link Ralph.

ENormaSnob · 08/11/2011 10:59

We have had mint and sick and are now onto epic.

TheBrideofFrankenstein · 08/11/2011 11:19

The .com thing started (I think) in Austin Powers where Dr Evil was telling his son to shut up, and he said "www.shush.com". That means it's been around for more than a decade. No-one shd still be finding it funny.

"Care factor zero" is also annoying

"hunny" should be a capital offence.

TheBrideofFrankenstein · 08/11/2011 11:21

However, it's not all one way traffic to linguistic armageddon. Sometimes really good words come back into fashion after a period in the wilderness - e.g delusional

I love that word.com

edwardcullensotherwoman · 08/11/2011 11:39

Can I throw in another one please? Putting "as if" in front of a statement. Eg. "as if I'm cold" (I saw this as a facebook status last week) when the person is stating that they are cold. Where has this come from?? I noticed someone use it in an op last week too, when referencing something they had said to someone. I don't understand, it doesn't make any sense, and seems completely pointless. Was going to post in Pedants' Corner but I try to avoid that place, I get a bit obsessed Blush

"Care factor zero"

I'll be using that one on DP tonight Bride!

Clossaintjacques · 08/11/2011 18:51

Not totally related but I also hate it when people talk by asking themselves a question and then answering it to get a point across.

"Do you think I was upset by it? No I wasn't"

OP posts:
Dirtydishesmakemesad · 08/11/2011 18:55

my dh tells people he is confused.com it drives me mad.
