use a web address as a statement

I'm tired dot com!! No you're just fucking tired why put .com on the bloody end.

Does anyone else hate this and if so what's the most cringe worthy example you have heard.

I suppose it is in the same league of 'I heart' whatever....Hmm

southeastastra · 06/11/2011 20:51

chavtastic

Alouisee · 06/11/2011 20:55

#OldFarts.com

Monty27 · 06/11/2011 20:58

'Hashtag is Twitter isn't it? I think Twitter is way way beyond the wrong side of wanky but maybe that's just me being a curmudeongly old fuck?'

Menopausalhaze rofl at your post ^^ in quotes above

Scoundrel · 06/11/2011 21:04

When my teenager has her friends round there is a lot of lolling and roffling at my kitchen table.

Why don't they just laugh or fall the the floor rolling and laughing? Fools.

Clossaintjacques · 06/11/2011 21:14

Maybe mumsnetters could have their own for example

I hated the phase when everything was "sick" to the DC.

Clossaintjacques · 06/11/2011 21:27

Or the latest urban street talk "give him some props" I actually had to look up what it meant.
I even heard Simon Cowell say it the other week now that was cringe worthy

OP posts:
Shakey1500 · 06/11/2011 21:30

I can't abide a string of them as in-

ROFPMSL, LMFAO!!!

I mean how much laughing can one actually do? And I need my arse, never mind laughing the bloody thing off.

letitwork · 06/11/2011 21:30

EricNM - I am of the "...not" generation too. That was from wayne's world, was it not?

Also "see that bag lady over there in the street? That's your Mum, that is" a la Mary Whitehouse experience.

BeaOnSea · 06/11/2011 21:47

Also, everything was "bad" which really meant "good" Confused

minxofmancunia · 06/11/2011 21:52

"sick" can also mean get really angry....I work with teenagers and they with often say he/she/mum/teacher will "go sick" at me...the first time i heard it I actually thought they meant their Mum would deliberately be sick on them, and I just though "that's a bit harsh" to myself....

I still do the Mary Whiteshouse thing. Blush

ENM that was wayne's world, wasn't it?
I hate the Mary Whitehouse thing. It's one that I can't even summon a polite smile for.

redcamels · 06/11/2011 21:58

It's like a reincarnation of text speak.

Fucking awful.

Dot com.

Clossaintjacques · 06/11/2011 22:05

What's the Mary Whitehouse thing?

OP posts:
SHRIIIEEEKPoolingBearBlood · 06/11/2011 22:08

"see that piece of chewing gum on the ground over there...that's your dinner that is." And so on. Until you just want to hit them. And the fact it is so unfunny and annoying and goes on and on IS the joke, I know that. But I just find it unfunny and annoying and wish they'd shut up.

zest01 · 06/11/2011 22:11

I hate all these things. Hate the.com thing and I REALLy hate people who say the letters O.M.G instead of just saying "Oh my god". Especially when they say it TWICE. Sets my teeth on edge!

SHRIIIEEEKPoolingBearBlood · 06/11/2011 22:14

you lot must hang round with a lot of 16 year olds. I only know one person who does this sort of stuff, and he only does it in a slightly ironic way, to secure his place as baby of the office.

fuzzypicklehead · 06/11/2011 22:32

The dot coms annoy me, but I don't mind the hashtags. To me it's like a funny aside, in the same way lots of people on MN use . I don't like the strings of letters (especially when said out loud) and I can't resist replying with OMFGWTFBBQ?

Clossaintjacques · 07/11/2011 09:32

minx

Yes 'sick' is just vile and stupid.

Those who have teenagers do you just 'suck it up' (that's another one) or try to stop them saying such ridiculous expressions?
