I think I might just scream. It's Daddy Daddy Daddy all day long... to the point where I think, why did I bother coming??!! ;-) DD is 4, DS, 2. I'm a SAHM, so I can understand that having Daddy around all day for more than two days is a novelty, but really, do I have to be quite so unpopular...!! Tell me it's happened to you too, please?

It happens to me all the time. Mummy is the boring one who gives the discipline. Daddy is the fun, exiting one.

All i ever hear is daddy, daddy, daddy.

reelingintheyears · 03/11/2011 19:57
Grin Take advantage mercilously.

He can do everything.

iklboo · 03/11/2011 19:57

It bothered me at first. Then I thought 'well, Daddy can take DS to the pool/arcade/playpark and I can have a kip tidy the caravan/hotel room & make lunch.

youarekidding · 03/11/2011 19:59

I'm a LP so not had experience tbh but seen it with other families I know.

I would leave them with Daddy and go off somewhere for some you time Grin

JoandMax · 03/11/2011 20:02

Yep, always happens here too. I love it though, means I can do my own thing and relax without worrying they're missing me!

Morloth · 03/11/2011 20:06

Are you actually insane?

They want Daddy? Let them have Daddy!

Pools to lie by, margeritas to drink, spas to attend!

My boys drop me like a hot potato when DH is around, it is wonderful.

duckdodgers · 03/11/2011 20:07

Not for me because I work full time and my DH is a SAHD, and even when Im there its Daddy all the way!

twolittlemonkeys · 03/11/2011 20:11

Haha, snap! Make the most of it - they want Daddy, they get Daddy. I'm a SAHM and for the last year at least it's always Daddy they want, even in the middle of the night so I am more than happy for him to deal with all their requests Grin It's the novelty of not having him around as much though. When my boys are poorly, they still want to snuggle up to me. :)

SlinkingOutsideInSocks · 03/11/2011 20:12

What Morloth said. ///\

auntiepicklebottom2 · 03/11/2011 20:15

Morlath....great idea :)

grayal · 03/11/2011 20:18

I wish I could run off to the spa! But they're still babies (4 and 2) and the 2 year old on his own is a handful... so difficult for either one of us to have them on our own!

minipie · 03/11/2011 20:22

If you're a SAHM, then you have them on your own all the time, no?

If so then Daddy should be able to cope with them on his own too and if he can't maybe it's time he learned

grayal · 03/11/2011 20:26

yes you're right minipie... but stuff like swimming is impossible.. other stuff we normally have one each! At least at home they have all their toys n stuff (and a fenced in garden!!) Glad to hear it's not just me, anyway, sounds daft but even though I should know better I get a little bit hurt...!

OP posts:
minipie · 03/11/2011 20:28

fair enough!

mendipgirl · 03/11/2011 20:48

I called DD1 "my little girl" yesterday and she said "no, not yours, I'm Daddy's" so I know what you mean! Also went back to work this week after maternity leave (for DD2) and neither girls missed me at all, obviously pleased they are happy with their childcare, but..not a tear for mummy that has looked after you both 24/7 for the last 8 months?

However, you should be able to have time to yourself, I take DDs swimming together on my own every week and it's not that hard, and if DP doesn't want to take them swimming he can do something with both of them to give you a break...if you want one.

grayal · 05/11/2011 13:21

ouch mendip girl! that's harsh! Good to know we're not alone in being treated this way though, eh!
