... After owning a pair of boots for four weeks, today in the wet, crazy rain (weather warnings here!) the sole flopped off my boot!
I work not far from the (independently owned) and expensive shoe shop I bought the boots in, so decided to flap down the street and show them the goods.
The woman at the till (employee, not owner) said she could see the sole was hanging off "coming loose" but unfortunately as I didn't have the receipt there was nothing they could do.
I said they could exchange them as they were faulty and not fit for purpose. She said not without the receipt and, if possible, the box they came in.
I told her she'd be lucky if I could find the box and that I paid cash and may not have the receipt on me. She said there was nothing she could do without a receipt and that's the first thing the owner would be asking for tomorrow when I return....
I have came home, searched the house, no joy on finding the receipt but I have found the box! Their price label is on it (just on a normal sticky label, not the shop name or anything!) Surely this is proof that I bought them there?
And... if not fit for use, surely I should get a refund/exchange anyway???
I almost want to walk there tomorrow in my wet socks to prove how much I need the boots in this weather...
