Well according to the horrified assistant in Tesco clothing department this afternoon I am. It was as if I'd asked her if I could buy an Easter egg! (Mmm...chocolate...)
I know its not exactly the height of summer but surely we're not the only ones who continue to swim 'out of season'!?

No you aren't! Try H&M, or Boots (though Boots often only have stuff in seasonally now.)

dixiechick1975 · 01/11/2011 18:00

ebay

Clayhead · 01/11/2011 18:01

Next usually have this sort of thing on their website all year round.

IneedAbetterNickname · 01/11/2011 18:05

It's as tricky as buying school uniform anytime other than summer holidays! DS1 has had a growth spurt, but everywhere is sold out Hmm

squeakytoy · 01/11/2011 18:07

any sports shop

chocoroo · 01/11/2011 18:12

YANBU

I tried to buy a child's nursery/school bag for my DD in there this week. The assistant gave me her best WTF stare and said they only sell them at the start of the school year.

You can definitely get swimming stuff in Next all year round as I've just got a new costume for DD.

AnotherEmptyNest · 01/11/2011 18:13

I out 'Buying swimsuits in winter' into Google and there are several shops selling them eg M&S or it looks as if you can buy them on line.

Mandy2003 · 01/11/2011 18:24

Sainsbury's sale rail in store, and if you find one it will have 25% off the sale price till Monday. There were certainly some on the adult rail today.

EdithWeston · 01/11/2011 18:26

YANBU at all

John Lewis sell them year round.

ItsTimeToBurnThisDiscoDown · 01/11/2011 18:28

The Boots near me had a load on the sale rail, might be worth a look at your local store Smile

Smuddy81 · 01/11/2011 20:32

Thanks everyone! Glad it's not just me then! Will have a look at the weekend.

You can get one online here

TalkinPeace2 · 01/11/2011 20:46

I did ask the lady in M&S whether all the local swimming baths shut in the winter
and she looked rather sheepish

somedayillbesaturdaynite · 02/11/2011 02:55

sportsdirect.com or the store itself if you have one nearby. bargains galore including swimwear

marcopront · 02/11/2011 16:37

OK another challenge for all of you.

I want swim suit for my 5 year old with sleeves. Any suggestions. I can't find any swim wear at any of the links so far. it has to be available online as I will be in the UK for 10 days and that includes Christmas and New Year.

Thanks

Rosa · 02/11/2011 16:39

Jo Jomamanbebe for sleeves ? POssibly

ThisisaSignofthetimes · 02/11/2011 16:46

Swimshop.co.uk

ChunkyPickle · 02/11/2011 16:51

Jojowhatsit has them - because that's where I ended up getting mine posted from when I had similarly incredulous faces because I also wanted to buy a swim/sun-suit in November...

MistyMountainHop · 02/11/2011 16:54

oh i had this the other day, went in asda for a swimsuit for dd 2 YO as wanted to take her swimming. when i asked if they had them i was met with a look like this>>>> Shock from the sales assistant and "oh we don't sell swimsuits in OCTOBER!"

ffs do people only go swimming april - september or something?? and what about all the people who go abroad for holidays at all times of the year? grrr Angry

somedayillbesaturdaynite · 02/11/2011 20:34

marco - UV suits have short sleeves and legs like mini wetsuits, i put my very petite dd in one for her lessons as she gets too cold

TheArmadillo · 02/11/2011 20:37

I had this a couple of weeks ago as needed one for half term - got a sale one from mothercare online in the end. None of the shops I went into actually had one in stock. As we go on holiday oct half term instead of summer I think I'm going to have to pick one up next summer for her and hope she doesn't grow much.

rushelle · 02/11/2011 20:40

I had this problem too and the girls in our local Sainsburys were fantastic, they agreed they should be in stock all year round and disappeared off into the back and found one in the right size from the sale stock. £2 a bargain!!!! Let's face it, children should have swimming lessons all year round.

MrsJasonBourne · 02/11/2011 21:08

I just picked up a lovely little Charlie & Lola swimsuit for dd2 in Mothercare.

Arf at TalkinPeace2 telling the M&S lady that the swimming baths must be shut. Grin

tobyrat · 02/11/2011 21:13

I have found this with swimsuits. DD actually grows in the winter and needs a new swimsuit!! Got one in John Lewis in the end, but agree very very irritating for them not to be on sale in lots of places.
