I'm meant to be having DC2 tomorrow. A planned C-section for medical reasons.

I got a phone call this morning from hospital who were very very apologetic but unfortunatly we will not be able to perform your c-sect tomorrow.

My doc isn't available for the next week - WTF, no explanation or anything.

Surely they have others and perhaps a locum etc - they do but apparantly 'I am not on the top of the list' And at this time I am penciled in for Friday maybe Thurs. Guess because they will have backlog and will need people to cover other births etc.
I get it I do.

but I am royally pissed off.

YANBU, I'd be pissed off, its stressful. Just cos you understand the reasons this has happened or why you might not be top priority doesn't mean its not very frustrating.

Take care and best of luck with the last bit of the pregnancy.

thanks duvet I just needed to rant :(

A week is a long time in the land of babies. Hope he/ she hangs on and doesn't have to be an EMCS. Sorry to scare you!

But maybe he/ she will also benefit from that extra week 'in utero'. Here's to you both Wine

VivaLeBeaver · 01/11/2011 13:44

I guess if they're short staffed it's safer to wait till they feel they can do it. Still crap for you.

At least they've told you beforehand. I know people who have spent the day nil by mouth waiting on labour ward to then get sent home and told to come back tomorrow only for the same to happen the next day.

fivepinksmarties · 01/11/2011 13:44

You are perfectly within your rights to feel like this, you have my sympathy. Hope all goes well later in the week.

CoffeeDog · 01/11/2011 13:52

ARhhhhh if they had tried to cancell mine i think i may have just exploded right there in front of them (mind you i was nearly 39wks with twins ;)

Poor poor thing, fingers crossed baby will hold on and you wont need a emc - good luck

You have my sympathies. When i had dd, my induction was delayed - i was raging as i didn't want it in the first place and the dr had put lots of pressure emphasising how important it was to start it by a certain date and how much risk it would be if i didn't have it.

I knew it was safer to wait if they didn't have enough staff / ward was to busy, but it didn't make me feel any better.

Hope it happens on thursday for you.

Georgimama · 01/11/2011 13:57

That's rotten for you. I was brought in at 7.30am nil by mouth for my ELCS and the hours ticked by - by 3pm I told them I was going to cry if they sent me home. Fortunately DD was eventually delivered at 5pm.

How far gone are you? May be worth getting in touch with your MW as she is going to be thinking you have had the baby by end of play tomorrow, and you may in fact need another antenatal appointment in the next few days? If you ring her and cry she might be able to pull some strings, never know.

porcamiseria · 01/11/2011 14:04

oh dear! I get they cant, but poor you. good luck

idobelieveinfairies · 01/11/2011 14:06

Oh no!!!! How annoying for you. With my first i was due to go in and be induced as she was 14 days late. I got a phonecall delaying it by a few days as the maternity unit was full. I was gutted! So i had some nookie with DP and went into natural labour a few hours later!!!

Good Luck!

startail · 01/11/2011 14:17

UANBU my friend rearranged the magnetic letters on her fridge to say something unrepeatable when her induction was canceled at the 11 hour.
