I've bought in a load of sweeties, I've carved a pumpkin and put it on the front porch. I've hung up bunting and put on Halloweeny music. I'm wearing a witch's hat. And not one of the ungrateful little feckers has deigned to knock on the door yet. Where the devil are they all? Have I gone to all this effort for nothing??? Or does my house just look unappealing [hhmm]

We've had a couple, normally we don't get any, but we always buy some candy just in case. We literally have NO lights outside and curtains drawn, so completely dark from outside. I still expect some kids will come to the door anyway, but you don't really expect PARENTS to bring their children to a door that is so obviously dark (as you'd expect they were not participating IYSWIM). Hmm

Triggles · 31/10/2011 18:06

Guess I only say that because when we were kids we were ALWAYS instructed to ONLY go to houses that had their outside light on.

We've had none and DD2 says she won't go to bed until some have been!

She can't have sweets so we can't go Trick and Treating but we have a bowl of sweeties to hand out. If we can't get rid of them I'll have to eat them all Grin

AmberLeaf · 31/10/2011 18:16

Im well prepared, still none though!......although the electoral roll lady just went away with a lollipop! DS insisted Grin

planetpotty · 31/10/2011 18:19

We've had loads DH had to be dispatched for more goodies even after spending £7 in the poundshop!!

Loads of cute kids with their parents and a few of the teen variety who might have been on their way to a strip jointGrin DH closed the door after two had been and was like "I feel a bit wrong!"

DS who is two is loving it and every time the door goes shouts "my friends are here" very cute.

catwithflowers · 31/10/2011 18:24

I bought a huge bowl full of crap treats too and not a single trick or treater!!! Even ds has gone AWOL with friends and not knocked on his own door yet!!!! Maybe he will save the biggest witch for last [hgrin]

addictediam · 31/10/2011 18:26

I just had 2 little cuties, must have been around 2yo all dressed up beautifuly! Dd (1) was very taken with them

I forgot the Ocado man was coming tonight - I just opened the door with a loud "BOO!" and a bowl of sweets and I think we both got a bit of a [hshock] - thankfully he seemed quite pleased to be offered some chocolate [hwink]

We have only had 3 so far, still early yet however.

It started at 3pm round here however, a lot of the school children are doing it early this year as have to be in bed for school in the morning.

I didn't get home until 6pm so expect I have missed a lot.

Just been putting the pumpkin out / skelton in the window etc.

I don't care either way though as I always make sure I buy sweets that I like, so I can sit here muching away and polish off any leftovers :)

MumblingAndBloodyRagDoll · 31/10/2011 18:37

We've had 4 sets....little cute ones and a gaggle of 12 year old girls who looked a bit ahem.....but they were very nice and polite and their Mums were lingering in the shadows....one big skeleton but he was with a small and cute vampire so that was fine. [hgrin]

I love it all.....love the doorbell ringng and the kids all getting chuffed.

Avantia · 31/10/2011 18:40

Had loads - even the dog now can't be arsed to get off her bed when there's a knock at the door .

helpmabob · 31/10/2011 18:41

We've had a few but I want more, loads to give away. All been super polite and only taken one thing even after I said take two.

GoodAndBluts · 31/10/2011 18:42

Ive had thre groups of teenagers, no little ones yet :(

I've got three pumpkins and have put fake spiderwebs and spiders on my hedge and gate, its not as if they can't see I am halloween friendly. Last year we had a steady stream of kids, this is very annoying.

noblegiraffe · 31/10/2011 18:43

We're out of sweets. I'm gutted, last year we only had two lots turn up and I had loads of sweets left over for me

MummyDoIt · 31/10/2011 18:44

Only the one here so far, though I haven't got a pumpkin out or any decorations. Left it too late to buy the pumpkin and there were none left in the supermarket today!

I hope we get a few more, otherwise we're eating Haribo until Christmas!

EsmeWeatherwax · 31/10/2011 18:46

I've had loads, but they tend to come in squads of 10! First lot completely emptied my bowl, thankfully had lots of refills. Sad I can't take dd1 out myself, Dh not at home to look after dd2.

We've only had one...and DD wasn't even at home to bloody see them. I have a scary clown faced pumpkin I carved with DD yesterday in our window and DD is sitting patiently with her witches dress on :( Stupid children.

blackoutthesun · 31/10/2011 19:00

none here but i'm now sitting here eating sweets Grin

We didn't get the pumpkins carved as we all had stomach flu. We'll probably do them tomorrow. Grin Our boys are 5 and 2 - they won't care if it's a day late. LOL They just think it's fun. I wouldn't have put the pumpkin outside anyway, as kids inevitably throw it. Hmm

catwithflowers · 31/10/2011 19:00

Ds and his friend just came round and looks like that could be it [hhmm]
All the more sweeties for me [hgrin]

ouryve · 31/10/2011 19:07

DS1's doing his nut because people keep banging on the door and I'm refusing to answer it.

We don't answer to trick or treaters since the year when we gave out sweets once and then all their friends came wearing the same bloody mask for the rest of the evening. They also come to the back door and the front door (we have a back lane) and it just gets annoying, specially since it was DH's idea to buy the sweets and I ended up doing all the door answering.[hangry]
