I need to name change but here goes... toilet on airplanes - do you put the loo paper down the toilet bowl or in the bin? I have been told that toilet waste is dealt with in the airplanes system and not emptied from the air as and when it is used. Please answer seriously. runs off to hide...

In the loo!

Many, many years ago I worked as an air hostess on the old DC10s. Sometimes before the passengers boarded, we used to wind a whole loo roll down one aisle and up the next, through the galleys and round the next cabin. Then one end of the paper was put in the loo and the flush pressed. The DC10s' loos would continue to flush till the bowl was clear so the paper would zoom round the aircraft like a crazy deflated balloon till the whole lot had disappeared down the loo, whiz, ping, whiz.

Thank you, op, for reminding me of this very silly but very amusing memory. Grin Blush

Grin @ Rhubarb's story of the whizzpinging loo roll.

DId you think that the plane just opens up at the bottom and releases human waste over unsuspecting victims below? Bearing in mind urine would freeze at that height....meaning you'd get smacked by what you'd think was yellow hail...

In South Africa, India and China I noticed can actually see the train tracks wizzing by when you flush the loo. So all the major transport routes in those countries at least are littered with loo paper and other unmentionables from the passengers...
