...to be pissed off that we've had no Trick or Treaters?

It's 9.30 now, school night so I doubt we'll get anyone knocking. Plus I'm off to bed in half an hour.

I have 2 bowls full of processed sugar and E numbers masquerading as treats sitting by the door, what am I supposed to do with them? Any suggestions?

Eat them. All.

But it's not Halloween today (Monday) - not yesterday. Hope you didn't eat all the sweets, you may need them tonight! If you really do want trick or treaters, then make sure you have your lights on at the front of the house and a lit pumpkin where it can be seen!

tigerandtabs · 31/10/2011 08:36

sorry, meant it is Halloween today (Monday)....

DoMeDon · 31/10/2011 08:37

I didn't know this problem was so common?? Maybe a support fred? I put some haribo on my special k - hth.

Birdsgottafly · 31/10/2011 08:37

Perhaps because it is 8.30 in the morning, would account for it?

Why not wait until tonight?

tabulahrasa · 31/10/2011 08:38

They shouldn't be there till tonight - today's Halloween

VivaLeBeaver · 31/10/2011 08:38

I suspect that op might be in a different time zone?

ghoulionine · 31/10/2011 08:39

I think you got your date wrong OPGrin It is tonight you will have to hand out sweets!

EightiesChickOrTreat · 31/10/2011 08:40

Unless you're in a time zone where it was actually the evening of the 31st when you wrote this then YABU. Halloween has become a big monster [hgrin] of a festival now, but at least trick-or-treating hasn't become a 5-night epic. Yet.
If you are somewhere where it's now heading for 1st Nov, then either a) eat them all yourself or b) put them into little sandwich bags and use them on your next few cinema trips with the DC, or at weekends when out etc.

MrsKitty · 31/10/2011 08:41

OP is in NZ, so don't think the date's wrong!

Have you started eating yet? (Perhaps leave them for breakfast - you don't want a sugar rush this close to bedtime Grin)

pigletmania · 31/10/2011 08:43

It's not Halloween yet, Monday morning!

ghoulionine · 31/10/2011 08:44

pavlovalover · 31/10/2011 08:46

You were unlucky. We're in NZ too, OP, and we got plenty of trick and treaters tonight. Mainly school friends. It's not particularly widespread here so people tend to just let their children go to the houses of people they know are likely to not mind.
Enjoy your E-numbers!

BonzaBlue · 31/10/2011 09:02

We had no one either - our street is mainly older folk .... at least my son had a halloween party at cubs....

Ps - we are in Australia - so already 8pm !

exoticfruits · 31/10/2011 09:13

I have high hopes that we will have no one-how lucky you were!

10:20pm here (South Island NZ!) and tucked up in bed already. Not a single solitary knock did we get, the orange balloon pumpkin face is drooping a bit (still taped to the mailbox) and the bowls of sugary chemicals are tucked away at the top of the cupboard.

Luckily it's DS2's birthday in a few weeks, can put them in the pinyata, lolly scramble and party bags :) think they'll keep until then! Actually they'd probably keep to Halloween next year :)

I have a box of celebrations to give trick or treaters tonight but I am hoping we have the same outcome as you so I can scoff the lot. I say eat them all.

pozzled · 31/10/2011 09:33

I feel your pain. I am hoping for some trick or treaters tonight as we have explained the custom to toddler DD. She wanted someone to knock yesterday so she could hand the sweets out. If no one comes tonight she will be very upset.

sozzledchops · 31/10/2011 09:36

Just about to decorate the house, hope lots of folk are up for it tonight and the weather is good!

Iteotwawki · 31/10/2011 10:12

Pozzled, I let my 2 stay up late (well, 8.30) so they could see people dressed up for Halloween and give out the sweets. They went to bed quite sad - think I may have to slip some jellybeans into their lunchboxes tomorrow.

And luckily I'm working so DH has to pick them up, so he'll get the cats bum faces from the teachers! (lollies not allowed with lunch)

We haven't had any either. I'm not sure trick or treating has made it's way to Lincolnshire yet. I'm not complaining, I have a huge bowl of chocolate, and now it's all for meeeee. [hgrin]

AKMD · 31/10/2011 10:16

YANBU. If we don't get any tonight I'll have to find something to do with a multipack of milky stars. Maybe I'll ambush the high school children tomorrow morning and start handing out sweets child catcher style :o
