How does she look so amazing given her hedonistic alcohol-fueled lifestyle?

Elpha tis a ref to A Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde (also mentioned up thread) he has a picture of himself in the attic which gets older, while he never does. But in the end tis all a tragedy

To use a line I read in a book - Kate Moss looks like she's been ridden hard and put away wet.

I certainly wouldn't aspire to look like her - she looks rough as a badger's arse most of the time and far older than 37. I also wonder what sort of role model she is for her daughter; I bet if she wasn't famous Children's Services would want to sit and have a little chat with her about her drug and alcohol use and how it may impact on her parenting...

BagofHolly · 30/10/2011 22:22

She has open ended access to the finest hair and makeup artists in the WORLD, can have any amount of beautiful gorgeous clothes made by the top designers, to order, and as previously stated, can nob off to the spa any time she likes. Fine feathers make a fine bird. She has no excuse whatsoever for any rammyness. (Or ramminess?)

BagofHolly · 30/10/2011 22:23

Oh yeah, and dead good photographers, not snaps taken on her mobile, highlighting open pores and chin hair, like the rest of us.

Triggles · 31/10/2011 09:10

sidge - lol - that's the same phrase my mum uses (and me lol)

and I'd agree, I do think she's probably gotten a pass due to her status

JajasWjolef · 31/10/2011 09:22

I've always liked her best out of all the 'old' group of supermodels - Naomi, Cindy, Linda et al. She just looks a bit more normal and less American I suppose. I quite like that she can look as rough as hell one day and gorgeous another - you wouldn't catch Linda E falling out of a club at 3am and being papped would you Grin! She's my kind of gal, perhaps not a great role model but hell we have Gwinny being all sensible to make up for her.

I love her face, it has a certain type of symmetry - those Calvin Klein ads back a year or 10 were just unforgettable.

BrawToken · 31/10/2011 22:20

Christ - her daughter is probably well loved and looked after. Why do we have to be such bitches about other women? All mothers are different. When I had my first child 14 years ago, I wasn't expected to martyr myself in the way mothers are now. I am a lot more clean living, but work a hell of a lot more hours. What's better? I think, despite the debauchery, my dd1 had a much better time than dd2 born to an uber stressed Mum who works her arse off.

Kate's lovely. Leave her alone.

Smallbrownbird · 31/10/2011 22:48

I remember reading a huge double-page spread about her when she first became famous, and for some bizarre reason I remember exactly where I was when I read it - at university. She was supposed then to be about 15. So, let's be generous and say I was 21 at the time, she should now be 40. On her birthday, though, she's always 33. I think it's brilliant, finally here is a woman who is not only prepared to look 40 when she's 33, but the world falls at her feet! Stop buying moisturiser everyone, we're doing it all wrong...

"AIBU to wonder if Kate Moss has a portrait in the attic???"
...YANBU, but imho KM's portrait in the attic is the one getting prettier. (sorry, OP - respectfully disagree Blush)

MumblingAndBloodyRagDoll · 01/11/2011 01:29

Do you know who really looks like a bugger close-up? Liz Hurley...I saw her at a party and she was wearing an unimaginable amount of makeup...really...it was an embarraasmet of foundation.

Kate Moss...she's cool and special...a bit wrinkly now but still gorgeous.

Pramface is a disgusting term btw because it makes nothings out of Mothers.

BrawToken · 01/11/2011 06:51

Agree Mumbling re pramface. It 'makes nothings out of mothers' and manages to insult an entire social class and their kids. A term thought up by middle class men in the media, I should think.

MumblingAndBloodyRagDoll · 01/11/2011 08:41

Exactly and smug middle class or working class Mothers with the "accepted" family set-up can snigger along with them at the "unlucky" ones who fit the description....thinking "Thank God I have a man/job/house and don't live in an area like that."

Moomim · 01/11/2011 18:22

worraliberty I ('m so tired that) I thought you said carefully air brushed potatoes...

Serenitysutton · 01/11/2011 18:42

Kate moss is 37. She's not 33 every year? In fact she's famous for having mental birthday parties each year, she hardly shys away from it
