Trying to be quick as need to do something quick but no idea what.

Next door neighbour is currently screaming at her daughter, can hear throught the walls. I mean SCREAMING.

Things such as:

I hate you, your going into a home
Get the fuck up now before I break your legs
I thought your brother was thick but your worse

Really nasty and violent threats.

What the hell do I do?

No idea if she is being violent towards the child, can't hear crying / bangs etc. just this screaming. Social services office is now closed.

Is this a matter for the police or am I over-reacting?

That poor child, how could her mother say such awfull things to her.

When i did edt we were called at home and i think we had an hr to respond. However the police should respond a to 999 and also reports of threats of harm.
I hope op comes back or we wont sleep.

BeyondLimitsOfTheLivingDead · 27/10/2011 21:36

(Have you got a glass against the wall now OP?)

mustlearntocook · 27/10/2011 21:37

Well done OP. I feel a bit sick reading this - would hate to hear that and hope this is a turn around point for the family.

SacreLao · 27/10/2011 21:37

Right police just walked past again.

Obviously no idea what happened but assume all is ok as they are leaving.

It's just 2 uniformed police officers so no SW's etc.

Do you think the police will have insisted on speaking to the little girl alone? I hope so!

Hope you are ok too op!

Well done for calling Sacre

BlathersFright · 27/10/2011 22:06

I've also been that girl.

Thank you for phoning and following it up Op.

CatFlaps · 27/10/2011 22:44

I hope that little girl is okay - poor thing :(

lalabaloo · 27/10/2011 23:31

You've done the right thing OP and now that little girl is on somebody's radar with someone looking out for her. Now what you need to do is record any further events, anything like tonight again call 999 as it is in progress. Anything you see or hear that is suspicious but not an emergency should be passed on to social services. It might seem nosy, but passing on concerns about children is essential and doesn't necessarily mean the child will be taken away, but help can be given for both the parent and the girl.

Sacrelao - if you have any further concerns of a less urgent nature but still wish to share them, you can contact your councils single point of contact for safeguarding children (a mouthful eh!)

Google safeguarding children Single Point Of Contact xxxxx council - you may have to rummage through a few items to find it but it should be there

SPOC is designed to collate and assess all risk to children. They should already be notified by the police but don't either assume this or think one call covers all situations

SacreLao · 28/10/2011 19:11

Toothbrush Thank you that is helpfull to know.

Have seen the little girl out and about today and she seems fine, obviously no idea what the police said or what will happen from here on out but will be keeping an ear out for anything else like this and hopefully someone will now be involved in solving this.
