AIBU to think that swearing just lowers peoples opinion of you. I just dont get the whole swearing just to fill out a sentence thing. Is it just me?

Aaaaand, 'to be' is not the infinitive, obviously. Idiot moment there, please excuse me. Can is a modal verb and has no infinitive.

I hate swearing, it's a complete lack of respect for others around you.
I also worked in customer service and for the local council for donkeys years where swearing would have got you the sack.

I now work for an IT company where every other word is fuck and I hate it, people calling one another wankers and cunts isn't a nice working atmosphere imo. It makes me want to ask them if they use those words in front of their mothers because I certainly don't want them using them in front of me.

Don't like to hear continual swearing in every sentence. Don't like to hear kids/young teens being sweary. Other than that it doesn't bother me really.

Enjoy the odd swear myself and it makes me laugh out loud on here.

Sisters kids (three, all near in age) were at the pools a while back. They came skipping up to her singing a rather "flagrant" little song which goes like this...

Daisy daisy give me your tits to chew.
I'm half crazy my balls are turning blue.
I can afford a johnny, a plastic bag will do.
So, lie on your back, open your crack and I'll put in my penis too! Shock

Malificence I worked in various IT companies/departments and came across a lot of casual swearing there, including in meetings. Might have something to do with them being male-dominated?

I was really shocked at first. Sadly I did become desensitised to it and can now be a bit of a potty mouth myself Blush. But I do make an effort to avoid blasphemy.

Swearing can be funny if used correctly. "What the actual fuck" being a particular favourite mn'ism. ("What the actual Jeff" works well too)

(Although to defend myself for a minute, my current nn is a Hallowe'en reference first and foremost!)
