I just yelled "Turn that bloody racket down, for the love of God, this is not a disco!" Blush

I think it's inevitable.

I told DS today that he "wouldn't feel the benefit" if he wore his coat inside. Hmm

Andrewofgg · 25/10/2011 21:48

All been there . . .

Cathycomehome · 25/10/2011 21:52

I said "disco". Actually "disco". I doubt my son knows what a disco is, being as noone has gone to one for about a million years. Blush again Grin

At least you did not say discotheque!!!

themothershipcalling · 25/10/2011 21:54

Yes, you have. This will be further proved when you make the Dad Groan.

Source - a certain old, Dad-groaning poster not a million miles from this pc.

MyDadWasADesertBat · 25/10/2011 21:57

But have you uttered the imortal words 'dont come crying to me when you've broken your neck' ?

THATS when you know you've fully morphed into your parents. Big style.

squeakyfreakytoy · 25/10/2011 21:58

It comes to us all Grin

Cathycomehome · 25/10/2011 21:58

Shit - not that one, MyDad, but I DID say the other day "I don't CARE what everyone else's mum says...."

Fuck it. I AM them now.

yanbu, I feel your pain. DD was moaning that her ipod shuffle does not let you see the songs you are playing and I explained about walkmans and tapes and said she should think herself lucky........ I also frequently seem to start sentences with "If I did/said/attempted to leave the housing wearing "that" when I was your age......." which makes me realise I am definitely morphing into my mother! Shock

PorkChopSter · 25/10/2011 22:02

"It's your own time you're wasting"

Oh yes Blush

FlyingPirates · 25/10/2011 22:02

I have been there. Then I embraced it. My children now roll their eyes. I tut.

In my day...

Conkertree · 25/10/2011 22:04

Walking home today ds2 (2.4) asked in a whiny voice if he could have the key to the front door. Ds1 (4.2) turned to him and said "not if you ask in that voice" - seems morphing into your parents starts even as children Grin.

Cathycomehome · 25/10/2011 22:04

Oh God, zest, my partner does that "when I was your age" one! He's turned too!

(Although sometimes he says "My mum would NEVER have let me do X", which just makes me want to gang up with son and adds one more little notch of hatred for disagreement with MIL to my list...Grin)

also look out for referring to a 'records' as 'catchy'. Tell tale sign that one.

Happymm · 25/10/2011 22:05

DD asked me what I was talking about the other day when I mentioned videos!Blush felt v v old!

Becaroooo · 25/10/2011 22:05

"Because I said so!"

Cathycomehome · 25/10/2011 22:05

''Don't come crying to me when...' is a line I use all the time. I like to think I learned it from the best.......

Grin at all the posters I just missed - thank God this appears to be something like liking a nice sherry at Christmas that comes to us all. That DOES come to all of you, right? Grin

OP posts:
peeriebear · 25/10/2011 22:08

Oh god yes, "You sound like a broken record!"
"Why don't you put a video on if you're bored"

DogsBeastFiend · 25/10/2011 22:08

Ah records... "those big black CD things" as DD2 once put it.

DD1 morphed into me early on in life. There's only 19 months between her and DD2 so of course she, being the big sister, had to tell toddler DD2 that "Mummy has asked you to do that for a reason!" as she rolled her eyes.

Thing is, she said it in my tone of voice too!

MyDadWasADesertBat · 25/10/2011 22:09

Happ I too go to the video shop. I also 'pull the chain' and 'dial the phone'. [hgrin]
