... To return a pair of shoes, one broken but the other has been weed on?

Bought dd1 a pair of £35 shoes 3 weeks ago. The buckle on one of them has just broken, as in the little bit that fits into the hole on the t-bar strap has totally come out and got lost while she was running about. Shoe now falls off as it can't be done up at all.

So I know I am within my rights to get them replaced.

But she had a wee accident in the other shoe (is nearly three and having a bit of a relapse :( ). Is it grim and disgusting to return the pair of shoes since the other one is the one that broke? Would the shop have to chuck both anyway as being worn and thus they can't try to re-sell them? Or do I just have to write it off as it's BU to return a weed-on shoe?

rinse it in cold water.

FabbyChic · 23/10/2011 20:40

They wont resell them. But I'd take them back as not fit for purpose.

KD0706 · 23/10/2011 20:43

I agree, they won't resell them as they're faulty. Definitely return them.

4madboys · 23/10/2011 20:44

just stick some bicarb of soda in the smelly wee one, leave overnight and then hoover it out and that will get rid of any smell, then take back to the shop :)

JumpJockey · 23/10/2011 20:50

Bicarb - will give it a go. Glad I'm not about to be expelled from MN dor being utterly minging.

Ah have just noticed also we wrote dd1's name on the inside in indelible ink, so definitely not being resold!

You're quite within your rights to return something not fit for purpose, regardless of what else has happened to them in the meantime!

lborolass · 23/10/2011 20:57

I wouldn't worry about the 2nd shoe, they probably won't even look at it. Shops don't resell stuff that been returned as faultly, I wouldn't think twice about returning them.

thederkinsdame · 23/10/2011 20:58

Why do you think they would resell them? They'd eitherbithem or return them to the manufacturer. Give the wee covered one a wash with some soapy water, then return them.

TheOriginalFAB · 23/10/2011 21:00

Why would you think they would resell them when one is faulty??

JumpJockey · 23/10/2011 21:02

Dunno, i suppose maybe I thought they'd try to resell the one that isn't broken. I guess that's pretty unlikely isn't it?
Sorry, has been a long weekend and my brain's a bit jelly!

I did that with dd slippers that I bought from boots which fell apart after a week. She had used them and they were dirty, they happily refunded the money.

DeepPurple · 23/10/2011 21:07

I actually read your title as wanting to return a pair that were broken and a pair that had been weed on! I was going to say broken ones fine but you can't wee on a pair and return them Shock

It's fine to return them. they need not know she weed on one and they aren't fit for purpose.
