To be annoyed at some items on my friends wedding list

I really don't know if I have a right to be mad at this but I am. My friend is getting married next month and we have discussed the wedding list. She decided to go with white denby. Very nice. She was at my house last month and commented on my nice Jamie Oliver dinner set. It's white with a little stripe pattern. I love it. I have just logged on to her wedding list and there is no white denby. In it's place is Jamie Oliver's entire set! I am a little miffed.

Ha - can we get them to include it on the next "Mumsnet recommends" email? Grin

In fact, I like white plates and my IKEA set is looking a bit worse for wear....

SardineQueen · 20/10/2011 14:12

It's a compliment Smile

Pancakeflipper · 20/10/2011 14:12

Hey Blathers - I have just googled and it looks pretty good.

Actually I already have a plain white set. In fact loads of people have plain white sets. The bastards copied me.....

SardineQueen · 20/10/2011 14:13

linky?

ViviPru · 20/10/2011 14:14

I'd find it annoying too OP, but then that's why I have a cupboard full of Ikea 365, because I've yet to find a set classic yet unique enough in equal measure guaranteed to be a chez-Pru exclusive.

snitchrose168 · 20/10/2011 14:14

I do highly recommend them. They are beautful but not too plain and I am proud to say that I have not broken one piece even though it is my everyday set :)
To compare I have broken several rice bowls from my good denby set and have broken about 6 or 7 of my debenhams crystal glasses Blush. Suffice to say I now use Tesco glasses!!

Pancakeflipper · 20/10/2011 14:17

I really like the 'lovely' one Pootling... I am outing myself as being really naff?

LydiaWickham · 20/10/2011 14:17

oh for goodness sake, it's not like she's bought the same coat as you and you'll be seen together in it.

take it as a compliment and make sure you buy something like a serving dish that you don't have, so you can borrow it in the future...

Putrifyno · 20/10/2011 14:17

Oh oh -WE had the funky dinner service! I had a total nostalgia moment then! Who'd ever have thought that a picture of a plate could bring a small tear to my eye.....

SardineQueen · 20/10/2011 14:18

Megatron · 20/10/2011 14:19

I have a lovely white Jamie Oliver set with some wee lines on it too. Please don't come and duff me up.

2BoysTooLoud · 20/10/2011 14:19

Expensive eh?
However I go with the 'be flattered gang'. Would not think to be offended.
I too think plain white a bit boring but I am a bit common....

LaurieFairyCake · 20/10/2011 14:20

I would say 'It's a compliment'.

Instead I will say you're equally boring and middle of the road. Wink

snitchrose168 · 20/10/2011 14:20

That's not the one pancake. Am trying to find it. But I do love that one!! Can I buy a new dinner set? I don't have the money or need one but that one is lovely!!!

Hey Viv we have the white 365 IKEA set!! I demand you swap it for something else immediately!!

You too pancake. Your plain white plates are just too similar to mine!

snitchrose168 · 20/10/2011 14:22

My mum has those plates llimited period!! The only downfall is they are too small to fit the enormous portion of dinner I eat!

2BoysTooLoud · 20/10/2011 14:22

Think my parents have had at least two of the patterns you linked to pootling..
Have nostalgic feelings to swirly number 4!!
