Listening to the "travellers" who are being evicted at long last and one of them said her sister has been beaten so badly by the police that she " now has no face left".
Another said the police set fire to a caravan.
These sound rational trustworthy people not prone to exaggeration.

They've been asked nicely to move out for 10 years. They had no intentionn of moving.

OneHandFlapping · 19/10/2011 11:59

"A traveller said this morning that they would have left quietly if the police had asked nicely"

Haven't they been being asked nicely for about 10 years?

ZombiesAteYourCervix · 19/10/2011 12:02

personally I don't get off on human misery. No matter who the humans or what culture they come from. I honestly don't know how you can.

ScarahStratton · 19/10/2011 12:05

VG just means they are Essex Police.

I'm enjoying the fact that the law is finally being enforced on a group of people that have, for a long time, thought of themselves as above it. Why didn't they all move into the perfectly legal half of the camp, rather than leaving it abandoned?

Sevenfoldedbloodybodies · 19/10/2011 12:06

omg op you are one sick person

slavetofilofax · 19/10/2011 12:07

I don't think anyone's getting off on human misery. They had the power to avoid what is being done to them and they chose not to. In doing so, they have aslo chosen to put the police at risk by inviting protesters to come along and throw fireworks at them.

These people deserve nothing by contempt imo.

I'm not enjoying misery, but I do like the fact that they are finally being told that they can't break the law and get away with it. No doubt they will twist it into a story about prejudice and discrimination though - anything rather than admit that they are in the wrong.

slavetofilofax · 19/10/2011 12:08

Ooops - I meant but not by

Booooooyhoo · 19/10/2011 12:12

"she has no face worth talking of" is an expression i have heard spoken here (northern ireland) when someone had been beaten up. yes the brusies and cuts are temporary but massively change and distort a person's face whilst healing and so it is reasonable to say, she has no face (recognisable as her own).

moogster1a · 19/10/2011 12:13

And the phrase" the police set fire to it....?"

You enjoy people being made homeless?

Nice

TheOriginalFAB · 19/10/2011 12:15

I was only posting what she said. I think they are in the wrong.

I am not enjoying it, the children must be terrified.

Booooooyhoo · 19/10/2011 12:17

and the irish traveller accent is a very distinct accent.

slavetofilofax · 19/10/2011 12:19

You can enjoy the fact that the law is being upheld without enjoying the fact that people are becoming homeless. They are separate things.

They are not being made homeless though, they have chosen to let it come to this. They did have other options.

Booooooyhoo · 19/10/2011 12:20

moogster if you are basing your assumption that these people are lying about teh caravan being set on fire by the police on the fact that they are clearly lying about someone having no face then i am just pointing out to you that saying 'she has no face' is a phrase used to say her face is badly injured rather than them saying her face has been ripped off her bones. so it isn't a lie, therefore you shouldn't base your assumption of them lying about the caravan on this.

worraliberty · 19/10/2011 12:23

However a friend of mine who is Irish was horrified when I mentioned about them having Irish accents. She states that it is not an Irish accent and completely different. Sounds the same to me but I accept what she says

'Horrified'? Lmao

They are very very much Irish accents.

ChippingInToThePumpkinLantern · 19/10/2011 12:24

Splinters on my arse re the whole Dale Farm thing - but I suppose that's a position I can take when it's not next door to me isn't it.

I love their accents :)

GypsyMoth · 19/10/2011 12:31

They are making themselves homeless, the council has offered alternatives. But no, they choose to cost taxpayers millions instead

Now, when I was homeless with 4 dc in tow I TOOK WHAT I WAS OFFERED!!!

They have been offered both bricks and mortar and other traveller sites but have chosen to turn them down! THAT makes me sick, I was placed miles from family and dc all had new schools, so the old school excuse won't wash!

usualsuspect · 19/10/2011 12:37

Whatever the rights and wrongs of the situation ,anyone who is enjoying it is sick

GypsyMoth · 19/10/2011 12:39

That will be the 'protesters' then, clearly enjoying themselves.

GypsyMoth · 19/10/2011 12:40

No better than the recent rioters

usualsuspect · 19/10/2011 12:40

or the tazer welding police

GypsyMoth · 19/10/2011 12:43
