a dear friend of mine is due her first baby in a month's time. she was talking about how scared she was of the birth. i was trying to reassure her saying she will be fine etc and she turned around and laughed and said what would you know ... you had a section!

i beat myself up for a long time after having ds by elective section (i'm 5 foot, had spd and he weighed 10lbs 130zs) thinking i was a failure etc. i realised i was being silly but felt i misedd out on not having contractions or a natural birth.

aibu to be hurt or am i just too over sensitive? i mean he did come out of me i did give birth i feel.

fastweb you have me in stitches on this thread Grin

Pardon the pun - stitches on a vb vs cs thread!

summerblaze A section is not always worse, as I think some of the posts on here show... I know my recovery from an EMCS was easier than a friend of mine's natural birth (she had major tearing and infection). And the six week thing is a guideline, many women feel recovered before then. Another friend of mine was baking scones and going to brunch within days!

You may not want a section, but you may someday be faced with one, so just want to say it doesn't have to be really bad. I think it's all a bit luck of the draw, whichever way you go.

However you give birth, whether normally, with intervention (forceps, ventouse) or CS (em or elec) you give birth and there is no "easy option".

Your friend is being ignorant and rude.

YANBU, you were just reassuring her and she was being a cow.
